Dragging Me Down

Description
This is on my old mic, so it sounds pretty lo-fi (I like that -- Son House and Skip James also sound lo-fi, and who wants to sound like them, right?), and I had it sitting on my computer for a few months. Today, I decided to sit down and finish it up. Musically, it's kind of a mixed shoutout to Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, but I tried to make it my own through the lyrics, which don;t sound like blues material at all. To all who've been graciously aiding me with my timing: this is NOT the piece in the works where I have been consciously working on it, this is something older and different. That one has piano and synth, this one has guitar and harmonica. Anyways, I hope whoever is listening enjoys, and if you don't, feel free to vent your frustration over how I've wasted 3 minutes of your time in a vicious verbal tirade. Cheers!

Can't say no to Blind Lemon
Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed -- it doesn't come close to your blues, of course.

I love slide guitar
That's a pretty decent slide sound you're getting. I like it.

But do me a favour? Record a song without trying to sound like you smoke 4 packs a day and chug back a bottle of liquor with it?

hmmmm
on all of the songs save for this one, it was my actual voice...
this one, I waited days between recording vocal tracks and only sang after smoking just to try and get that effect. And yes, I recognize that doing so is not genuine and probably made me sound worse. And also, it made me slur my words a bit, because, well....

Thanks about the slide guitar, though. I'll work on recording purer vocals/finding my own style.

Delta Feel
Slide guitar really nice. The old mic gives it an authentic feel. Don't know if the harp fits to well. Blues can be just as good when left basic. And the guitar does that on it's own in this case. Good job Blues always rules

I haven't been playing music for too long. I've dabbled with the guitar for years, but it was only late in 2009 when I started writing my own stuff, and I've loved it ever since. I had always been inventing riffs or short melodies on the guitar, but ... [see more]
