The Midsummer Grove (T4S w/ VicDiesel)

Deep in the forest, the spirits dance. Can we escape the trance and merely watch if our very soul longs to join the rite?

natively natural
sounding track, with a splendid fusion of instruments. Absolutely pro, guys and definitely a download. To the iPod it goes.

The Midsummer Grove
Guys I enjoyed this immensely. Sounded way cool with the cans. When I noticed the pairing I couldn't help think "wow what a great match up!". Your individual styles compliment each other wonderfully.

Quiet magic...
One needs to enter this grove with caution, but to enter it alone in order to be transformed by the subtleties that lurk here. To me, you have created a unique, special world that is inviting and haunting and introspective and contemplative. What wonderful and relaxing and meditative music you have created. Congratulations. Just wonderful.

You've combined....
...two guys with fierce intelligence and taste here.... You could certainly make a CD together, as Karen points out.... This is the sort of thing that would get airplay, and would definitely get chopped up into those neat little excerpts that they use between excerpts on NPR... (I'm always trying to figure out where I've heard each bit... I assume they take slices short enough to not be liable for royalties...)

The flutes are really sonorous here... I have a thing about the way flutes and various woodwinds are often recorded, sometimes too breathy, often too shrill, and frequently in such fashion that, to my ears, they don't sit well in a mix... which always seems weird to me, since they are such nice sounding instruments.... Here the flutes are really nicely framed by the backing tracks, especially the low frequencies that leave the mix sounding full, satisfying and listenable...

The whole track is really nicely paced, too... Not an overplayed moment...

Classically trained composer and orchestrator. Been doing sound design and synthesis for a long time. Enjoying the incredible power of computers and samples, but it's great just to sit down with a guitar or analog synth and just play too. Graham ... [see more]
