Description
http://www.phunkers.co.uk

This song is a departure from my usual kind of track and is a bit of an experiment to see if people will like this kind of song from me. So comments on the song and production would be appreciated :)

This is a pure ambient song with a simple baseline and lots of tweaked synths sounds to try and create a very relaxing slowly building ambient journey. Hence the name Itineris (Latin for Journey)

Also put together all the mastering techniques I have learnt to date together in this track so tell me what you think and if there any obvious annoyances you can hear.

VIDEO Description

Follow a group of aliens taking a quick tour of our little planet in there spaceship, while listening to a Earthlings Ambient tune by some humanoid creature called Phunker :)

Hey there Mr. Phunk...
This may be a departure as you say, but it's quite enjoyable! Love the almost floating synths. Nice beats too. Mix is clean and spacious. Well done friend!

Take care!

Like this a lot!
I'll take a copy for my next journey, thanks. The mix sounds good, nice choice of sounds, all quite clear. A video sounds goods: I'll look forward to it. Cheers.

antarctiplow
making its way slowly back to home base, the giant ice-tractor winds its way around beautifully textured naturally frozen water sculptures. The constant sunrise at the pole illuminates a million colors sliding by the windows, as we catch that first glimpse of home.

Well, that was my movie anyway.

suggestions
The fast panning between my ears was uncomfortable in headphones, perhaps soften the effect. Otherwise, the low rumbling tones mixed with the sparkles was very pleasing, as was the crystal clear mix.

Wasn't
sure about keeping the panning effect or not but in the end I decided it was a bit of interest in the track but if other people think it's annoying might remove or like you said soften it.

Not very funky :) Very nice piece of New Age music. No complaints, except maybe agreeing with Drak about the rapid panning effect, which I think is a distraction from the mood you set. But that's minor. Overall, I think this is a big success.

Far from funky as you can get lol I will make a funky track one day maybe I shouldn't have used my DJ name for my artist name lol

Urmmm maybe the pan wasn't a good idea thanks for input.

Itineris (again)
Hi again Mr. Phunker - back for a real comment. second listen now - i think i agree that the quick panning feels a bit distracting, but that is the only thing i would reconsider. i love your sounds, the beats, the big range of registers. this is VERY cool and beautifully mixed!

you have my vote!!
Relaxing space. Love the break up at 1:40-ish--
It takes a cool minor turn, very nice to my ears.
Mastering sounds great as well, your right, with 128k what can you expect, but it sounds glued together.. volume, stereo image, and textures are spot on.
Enjoyed!

Well. I quite like the rapid panning in the middle.
gave me the visual of when you're on a train and a row of trees makes the sunlight flicker like the shutters on a camera...then the break made it like going into a tunnel and then coming out the other side in another continent.
Well that's my visual take on it.
Good mix and use of sounds and synths..and just right for this morning
cheers

collective. This reminds me of them. not any of their earlier stuff, just their new album 'Merriweather Post Pavilion.' Check out the song 'Summertime Clothes.' You'll see what I mean.

I'd actually like a hint of white noise in the background here. I really love this track, though, it's fantastic.

You
make beautiful sounds. I hear what they're talking about but it is okay. The whole thing is grand like a sunrise done in slowed down time or like a stream of melted snow meandering down a twisty-turny mountainside, splashing and twinkling in the sun. Thanks.

Itineris Variations
My ADD was not a problem. In this genre I often bail on the compositions because "nothing" happens. This one is different.
Continual variation and structural articulations keep the thing fresh.
I must admit, I was craving some fire at about 4 minutes.

Definitely...
..getting "water" on the brain...on a major scale. So, yes .. glacier melting perhaps .. video footage of large chunks of the ice-cap crashing into icy waters. I wasn't keen on the extremely fast panning either, otherwise I likely the movement in the stereo field and the use of delay.

As a bit of a tinkerer myself...
...I know how hard good reverbs are to pull off. And you've hit yours spot on. Sounding really sweet here, great progressions and changes. In other words, lots of really nice sounds, tastefully introduced throughout the piece. There's a definite wholeness in this piece, a tight package. Good length, great content.

This is...
absolutely gorgeously beautiful. love the open rhythm and don't mind at all that I would usually associate the choice of synths with a kind of new age music I don't usually listen to. this is just 'blissfully saturated ear candy' (hey, that's a good title for a CD, what do you think!)

...for a 4:30 am listen; soothing, yet majestic.

Really like your attention to detail, here - a lot of really subtle, yet important, touches.

Really cool!

Thanks All
WharmtonRise, Iholdeon, Demeter7 thanks for great comments.

To Demeter7 I didn't really try and sync video to audio in this video even though there are a few bits that do sync up mostly by accident, main goal was to try to tell a story simple story, while paying a bit of a homage to our wonderful planet while listening to my latest song :)
