Old Rockin' Chair

Description
I did this last summer as I can hear a car go by my window. Anyway it's an old song by the great Hoagy Carmichael. I wanted to wait until I could redo the vocal part because I am not happy with it. It's just a scratch track and after I listened to it I didn't sound like someone who was resigned to the "Old Rockin' Chair." But when I re-mixed it with my new mixing mindset I thought it sounded so much better than before I decided to post it anyway. I should do it right but I will not have time. So here it is and happy new year.

Old Rockin' Chair
Jazzy and folkish at the same time. I really like the harp solo and of course the vocal!

Old Rockin' Chair
Rootsy/bluesy feel reminiscent of Levon Helm. Terrific vocal & great mix.

Love it!
Neal, this sounds great. I have just posted my own "Rocking chair" song - a coincidence. I love the clarity you get in your recordings - and you do it without losing anything in the richness of the sounds you are working with.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

The singing
on this is perfect to me, has a Wilco sound in some parts, really dig the rootsy sound and the big big bass beautiful!

Very familiar with this song...
...and must say Neal, I greatly enjoyed your updated sounds and interpretation of it--really, you make this sound like it could have been written yesterday; excellent work and thanks for remembering this fine song, which Hoagy always considered his favorite. Take good care now! Michael
