Description
You know, I really am quite a contented and happy guy with a very long term partner, Judy, who I love, two great kids and a labrador dog, but writing in a minor key seems to bring out the downer in me. Another song that grew out of mumbles accompanying some acoustic guitar phrasings. I promise to post a more upbeat song soon! Hope you enjoy. All feedback welcome. Warm regards, Peter.

Lyrics
Vortex – Peter Bowen (2011)
I’m sitting here watching the rain fall
Thinking bout what I’ve lost
My life’s too much like a wind squall
I’m always counting the cost
Memories scud into view now
Your face is hard to define
We seemed in synch with the weather
Some days cloudy, next fine
Chorus
We needed sunshine in winter
A warm breeze at our backs
But driving rain lashed our shelter
We were stopped dead in our tracks
And there was no turning back
Our lives were punctured by lightning
Thunder came with a crash
Caught in a vortex of guilt, we
Didn’t survive the flash
Forward forecasts were frightening
Our sky was leaden with fear
It seems our lack of commitment
Tainted the atmosphere
Repeat Chorus
I’m sitting here watching the rain fall
Thinking bout what I’ve lost
My life’s too much like a wind squall
I’m always counting the cost
Memories scud into view now
Your face is hard to define
We seemed in synch with the weather
Some days cloudy, next fine
Chorus
We needed sunshine in winter
A warm breeze at our backs
But driving rain lashed our shelter
We were stopped dead in our tracks
And there was no turning back
Our lives were punctured by lightning
Thunder came with a crash
Caught in a vortex of guilt, we
Didn’t survive the flash
Forward forecasts were frightening
Our sky was leaden with fear
It seems our lack of commitment
Tainted the atmosphere
Repeat Chorus

and nice mellow song. I also like the harmonies. Nice job!
