Lyrics
Illuminated by the light
from a dying sun
A fleeting sight of what could be
This suckling flame consuming all that is left
consuming all that remains

Out in the ash choked land
The devils dance in delight
their thermal flesh bends the air
Unwilling to even try we leave them to their revelry
sand etching away our legacy

So go in search of truth in scripture
and in sutra
In the hazy slip of time
You"ll find no answers there

It is on our own
that we produce this desolation
If ever there were a god
it's died off long ago

So look no longer for the hand of a loving father
He's left us all behind
and run off out to sea

If there's to be a hope
for more than this lonely isolation
You'll have to grow up fast
and learn to speak and see

So look no longer for the hand of a loving father
He's left us all behind
and run off out to sea

If there's to be a hope
for more than this lonely isolation
You'll have to grow up fast
and learn to speak and see

So look no longer for the hand of a loving father
He's left us all behind
and run off out to sea

wow adam, this is deeply, thoughtfully genuine. very cool work - nice vocals! i like that you're putting your voice out there more frequently these days. cool octave vocal accompaniment. is that manipulated or do you actually have that range?

All me
My natural range is the deeper tone. I'm using the high voice more at the insistence of a vocal coach who is kindly giving me tips on here.

vocals
The vocals are strong. This kind of genre is very hard to pull off and you did it. Nice work!

Well said
That's a powerful lyrical statement. Effectively minimalist. The drone and 1-2 1-2 on the pianoish instrument gives it a sense of profundity. And that matches the theme and lyrical content quite nicely. Good touch also with the low octave vocal part.

sometimes the simplest things give the greatest sense of urgency. I wanted to focus on the lyrics in this one instead of the music.

Not surprised
you are tired, Adam! The number of songs you've penned lately is pretty amazing.

Another powerful effort, with stark lyrics as trenchant as an axe.

the creeps
That piano melody is kinda Mike Oldfield-esque. It has a haunting quality that is carried through your vocals and lyrics.

Thanks for the dl :)

Sombre
but strong piece. The spare accompaniment works well and helps focus on the message.
