RISE UP for the People of Japan

Description
Marty came over a couple weeks ago and we listened to some Logic Loops to inspire ideas, and soon she had one. We then enlisted help from our Danish Viking friend Ken Damkier - and he surpassed our expectations. Marty's lyric and lead vocal, Anne's BGV's and mix. PS: Ken Damkier and Ann Mayo Muir also contributed to the background vocals.

(and thank you, Fred - here's a boosted instrumental track.)

Lyrics
RISE UP
for the People of Japan

Far on a distant shore
Stands a man in his grief
Stunned, he looks around at the
Hell beyond belief

Shaking in the cold night
Oh, there’s no relief
Gone in an endless moment
His whole world beneath his feet

Rise up Rise up Rise up Stand and help your brother
Rise up Rise up Rise up People help each other, oh

Fires light the night
Though the blackness is complete
Nation devastated
Thousands crying in the streets

Mothers without babies
Fathers without sons
Laughter has been silenced
Now the mourning has begun

Rise up Rise up Rise up Stand and help your brother
Rise up Rise up Rise up People help each other, oh

(Break)

Hold on strong
Hold onto your Spirit
Hold on strong
Hold on don’t let go

Hold on strong/Rise up rise up rise up
Stand and help your brother
Hold on strong/Rise up rise up rise up
People help each other

Hold on strong/Rise up rise up rise up
Hold onto your Spirit
Hold on strong/Rise up rise up rise up
Hold on don't let go

fixing things up...
This sounds much better than your first draft, nice lead-in, super guitar work by your viking, and as always, your voices are truly scrumptious. This sounds like a "Rockin' Spiritual" in some ways, a great song and sentiment for a devastating tragedy that is affecting ALL of us, around the world.
ttfn,
Drakonis

RISE UP for the People of Japan
The images in the lyric really bring out the desperation of the situation, and the chorus brings a needed message of hope and strength. Nice songwriting. I love the vocals, and the guitar is tasty.

Inspired and Inspiring
Real anthem feel to this and just what you would need i imagine to help a tattered and embattled spirit feel a little more upbeat and on top of things after a hard knock. Works for me!

Lovely vocals, as ever, and the guitar rocks, too.

Inspiring.

Thoughtful, sensitive lyrics...
Hi Anne and Marty. Great response to an absolute tragedy. Every time I see footage of the devastated towns I can't imagine what I must have been like - and what it will probably be like for many years to come. Thoughtful, sensitive lyrics and a great performance by all concerned. Love the slide work. Warmest regards, Peter.
