Still learning my way around and very much a newbie, but had fun putting this together. It's a trance tune that turns somewhat uplifting toward the end, just another step in my journey :) Hope you guys like it and will absolutely sponge up any advice/critique you've got for me, cause I am falling in love with this process and want to learn literally EVERYTHING.

nice trance-itions
Perhaps the levels at the very beginning are a little low for this type of music... although I generally do not use compressors, maybe you could increase the master volume a bit and add a compressor and see if it "adds punch." I enjoy the smooth glides in this, as opposed to the more choppy thumpy music I associate with "Trance." Your choices of synth voices are soft and pleasing, excellent.

Welcome to the addictive process of music creation, and Macjams. You have a good gift for it. I look forward to more of your work. There are many here who can help teach you all sorts of aspects, but there is a lot to learn, so as we say in my industry, "be prepared to drink from the firehose of knowledge."

I definitely prefer the firehose to the fountain. I'll give the compressor trick a shot and see if I can make it work. Thanks so much for stopping by to listen and for commenting - advice and honest critiques from the more seasoned people here are absolutely invaluable to me at this point... really can't thank you enough.

cheers :)

give and take...
ah but you can... I (and everyone else here mostly) too am very interested in critiques and ideas from you as well. Feel free, as you have time, to return the favor and listen to a piece or two of mine and offer your thoughts as to what works and does not, that would be very helpful (and very much appreciated by me!) Also, as you leave comments for other members here, they will notice you and discover your music too... a gentle way of advertising your presence here :-)

This is very nice.
It builds from the rather quiet intro. I like it a lot. Thanks.

There is a lot to like in this tune. Great sounds for starters. Also some great sounding textures.

My main gripe is that it takes a long to get started. As much as like everything after the first minute, that first minute is, to be honest, kinda boring.

Ok, halfway you have a long breakdown and you build it up, but not as grandiose as I was expecting. That stuff after the 4 minute mark has too much happening smack on the beat, which together with that bass drum makes it a bit militaristic. A little more rhythmic variety would be nice. Especially since you're ending the track that way, I was expecting some really dense sounds with a bunch of supersaws or so.

Hi Preston....
I heard this when you first put it up here but didn't leave any comments. I liked it from the get go. It has great variety and the sounds are rich and the piece/pace kept my interest from beginning to end.

Look forward to hearing more of your pieces.

Take care.
