Wondrous Clay (remastered)

Description
Inspired by the Gospel story of Jesus curing the blindness of the beggar with a clay paste. This quick demo sketch was recorded on my portable digital Zoom H2.

My first posting a few days ago was badly mastered – too muddy and muted.

Lyrics
Wondrous Clay

E Amaj7 B
Lord of life, you love all souls.
E-7f C#m7 B
By your touch we are made whole.
E Amaj7 B
Sculptor of all time and space,
A B
hold us in your warm embrace.

[refrain]
C#m7 B C#m G#m7
God, you watch creation toil.
F#m B A B
God, you seed and water soil.
C#m7 B C#m G#m7
Guide us through another day.
A B A E
Shape our lives in wondrous clay.

Often blind and so afraid.
Then your Word makes worries fade.
Healing Spirit, bring new light.
Illuminate our darkest night.

[refrain]

We journey with your risen Son
from mother's womb to valleys beyond.
Lead us to a vision so true,
through living waters that renew.

[refrain]

Yes, straight from the Zoom H2. I recorded the song three times, singing and playing at the same time. Then I stitched together in Logic Pro 8 the best regions. Finally, I normalized and added a touch of reverb with Peak Pro. Glad you like. My first posting of this song was badly mastered because I was using those tiny little Apple bud earphones (I made it too boomy-muddy). The clarity of this version is actually very close to what you get straight off the Zoom H2.

Vocals
Thank you, Craig. I don't know how to temper my vocals. I generally sing pretty rough. Sometimes I drink olive oil straight from the bottle in an attempt to smooth out my vocal fold vibrations.

What a great
Christian folk tune. Your voice is always so strong - this mastering really shows, a great vocal - guitar recording. One of the liturgical publishing companies should use this!

"One of the liturgical publishing companies should use this!" – that is music to my ears! Thanks, BossHook. Glad it resonates with you.

Great mix
Your vocals are right on with a nice accompaniment. Wish I could sing that well.

Thanks, John...
You have an honest, expressive voice. Not to worry. It's best to just be ourself. I tried to be Elvis but it didn't work. Man, I wish I could stroke a Strat the way you do. Gomez gave me one a couple years ago and I barely know how to strum chords on it. We should do another collab some day.
