this one of those extemporaneous things that happens sometimes. the original inspiration was in C, but it was too high to sing reasonably - so i dropped it down to Ab. it took about 6 takes to get a reasonable vocal recording. i was puzzled why the signal level was too high, it kept clipping on me, no matter what distance i held the mic. i got a got an OK take and went with it. later on i realized the problem was that the input was not the mic at all - it was the built-in mic! i'm surprised at how good the built-in sounds actually
