rerecorded vocals on this version.

I wanted to write a dance-able song with an indie rock flavor, and this popped out. I went for the 8-bit aesthetic for extra hipster cred.

This song was the culmination of a bunch of similar stories of people around me and myself. when the same pattern emerged a fourth time, I knew I needed to write about it. This is about two people who have made a connection, and it's one of those deep, must-be-destiny ones, but they don't talk about it. For one reason or another, they're too afraid to make the leap, too afraid to take the relationship any further. They're in a comfortable place, ignoring their issues and feelings. It's like trying to stop time. But something's got to give, right?

I was burned for a moment with you
tracing patterns of quasars
in the intersection we were
forcing time to hold its breath
only so midnight's equilibrium
won't topple again over our heads
I can only stand here
watching you crash
without a hint of surprise

and I
said I was up for it

I don't know if you're listening or if you're
spaced out with our thin blueprint, I can't tell, really
I don't know if you've thought about it
we want to break free
but we're not sure where we're headed
not sure where we're headed

I know you felt a stirring refusing to sit back
and a hunger takes the lead and
I know you felt the quaking firmaments saying
you don't dare to set aside a pocket manifold
now we

let it go
a passing scrutiny
we keep on
a false dichotomy
we try our hardest not to

fall too deep, defenseless
but we're tumbling slowly
to a diaphanous sea
you say there isn't another level
ignoring ecstasy

This grand force I keep
it takes a lot out of me
this spool is unraveling
I won't give in
to the tremor within not if you
won't be present when the
shattering saves me
when the shattering saves me
can you keep your eyes on me for a moment just to
blur these lines, these sick sick lines
I'm sure that it doesn't hurt as much

the dancing stops
in our blue hour
but it threatens
to overpower
clocks struggling hard

and as we
sped through the maze of this city
with our hands up reaching for a shred of divinity
we knew
that the last grain was dropping
it would tear us to shreds
it would tear us to shreds
it would tear us to shreds

nice ideas
possibly need to crispen up the vox, they're a little muffled, and given the quality of lyrics and singing/songwriting, it's worth working on to make this blossom! Love the instrumental breakout near the end, very sweet. As always, awesome singing.

extra hipster
cool tune and like the meaning to this... Love... it's like drowning... got to finally give in or give up- sputtering to the shore feeling a bit foolish.

The energy is a bit like those 80s synthpop groups, but the sounds are pre-80s. Cool.
