Acoustic Mandy

 Genre: Acoustic

So having left mine and Yordbear’s version of “Mandy” up for a month or so, Steve and I got together the other weekend and after playing some other stuff we thought we’d have a quick go at this one, just a quick acoustic jam round a single mike.

Now Steve had only heard this song a couple of times before he picked up the mandola and once he’s got the basic chords off me we did this as one live take. I know there are mistakes but I wanted to post this as I am still in awe of how he can just play from the heart. He probably couldn’t repeat this performance if I asked him but luckily I got this one down at least. You can even hear his copper bracelet rattling at one point!

Jamming live like this can sometimes just be magical.

Mandy Throws a Hundred

I see you from the window
At the top of my house
I’ve got to find a way
To draw you to me

You sit down by the shoreline
I see you every day
What can I do
To make you look my way

Then my fingers dance on eight strings
They make my “Mandy” sing
She throws a hundred notes
Across the floor

My notes they scatter and rattle
Like ancient ivory dice
Escaping through a window
Or a door

Mandy throws one hundred
Or More
Mandy throws them to you
Where you sit by the shore

They tumble along the roadway
Some catch a passing bus
Some of them just float off
In the air

Some scuttle down the alley
To the shoreline
And settle in the tresses
Of your hair

Notes. Get trapped in your clothing
Notes. Get stuck your shoes
Notes. Floating in the rock pools at your feet
Notes. Half buried in the sand

So notice please the notes
My Mandy sends to you
Collect them up and
Bring them back to me

I do love the spontaneity of this mix ... I listened to the previous version and liked that version as well, however this has that I am right there with you feel to it. I like the simplicity and realness of it.

In awe
of how you can just do that. i'm from the other end of the spectrum. If its not been written down and thought through, it doesn't happen!

Great feel and liveliness to this, and sincerity, too.

Much enjoyed. Thank you!

Well for me
that is the best way to play....improvisationally,freshly and from the old ticker....let the heartbeat be your metronome......bloody 'ell that's a bit deep for me,but you know what I mean....and this is what MJ should be more about I feel.Great job and I heared no mistakes making in the tunage.....unlike my tipping.

There's something
about a live performance that you'll never be able to reproduce again.

This works well. I really liked the song.

Apologies for being late but I've been away for a few weeks.
