Haha!
Love the intro. There's one in our street right now, believe it or not. Dropped ice-cream is a real pain eh? This however, is a lovely composition. Short, but very sweet.

Thank you Dave
for stopping in and listening: I seldom do "long" songs, like 8mins or so.. not my thing.. besides, I'd feel guilty taking up peoples valuable time. The theme is inspired by a notion of a general lack of songs about food stuffs (I mean apart from commercials)- I thought, why not- I could only think of "food glorious food" and perhaps "scooby snax" doesn't count.. anyways.. was going for that nostalgic feel that "the ice-cream van/truck" has for many... long may they remain in business. A little tribute to "Boni" my childhood purveyor of ice-cream. Ironically, I am not fond of ice-cream really...but there y'go.

Those moments...
a quite precious: dropping your 1st ice-cream or losing your 1st balloon. It's fun to try and base something on a common shared experience from our pasts. Thanks very much Gator for your continued curiosity to my musical efforts.

Dropped
this is so sweet!!! you've somehow captured the essence of the ice cream truck beautifully.

Vanilla essence? ;o)
Thank you Karen- my piano efforts are as always multi-layered single hand, midi touched-up pieces and nothing near your league... so I am humbled you enjoyed the gist of what I was after herein.

Sweet as ice cream
I love a little tune that has simple piano with accompanied instruments. Has a nostalgic value to it, that makes me a little homesick. Nice job-patty :)

Thank you Patricia
.. always pleasant to get new listeners. Not particularly representative this being a bit out of my usual comfort zone genres... the simple melody I had in my head and I had to record it for posterity and see where it led me. Glad the nostalgic feel is coming across, I toyed with making the pic B&W in fact .. prolly should have.. I even made some efforts to make the piano sound "old" and needing tuning... which was a "new" thing for me production wise.

Too kind Russ
It's very pleasant to drift off to I find. Thanks for downloading- hope it sounds good in buds. My own critique would be it's perhaps just "too simple" even childish .. perhaps.. another variation/section might be possible, but as is, I think I captured the idea/gist of this.

Like it
I've listened on it a couple of times now, and it grows on you. Stripped-down goodness, I like it! The ice trucks melody in my country isn't as nice as this one.

Thanks
for your patience with this: isn't it usually the "Helan och Halven" (Laurel & Hardy) theme tune they use most often? I live in Sweden too btw.

Yum! Very sweet, too Alan. A tender musical ode to a universal thread of experience. ;)

d'awwwwwwww...
The poor boy had saved nickels a long time, just waiting for the truck to roll by. Not a moment after his pride, his savings, his hours of dishwashing and gutter-scouring changes hands for the inordinately shiny fluff-topped cone, does it fall from his hands, claimed by the unfeeling earth. He can almost hear it chuckle as the tears begin to flow, and he makes his dawdling way home, wandering from lamp-post to lamp-post, yearning for distraction.

I think ..
I will need to hire you to write my song descriptions from now on Joachim.. thanks for that imagery.. very apt. I'm slightly more abstract and was really going for a bit of that + the ice-creams perspective as well.. lol.

Dropped ice cream
Very nicely composed ...a simple but effective piano melody. The strings are a tasty touch... melancholy in a good way.

Dropped ice cream
I'll have a double cone with a flake please topped with strawberry sauce, yum! Good tune too!
apb said 2889 days ago (July 21st, 2011)
Coming right up Neil...
Thanks.. I liked single nougats (and double) + flakes...which was hard to stick together...I liked dropping ice-cream in ginger beer too.. after a while I realised I just wasn't that keen on ice-cream really...

Scoops
When I was in college, I watched as a little kid, probably a 7 year old boy, ran gleefully across the street with a fresh new cone in his hands, a triple decker. Just before he got to the other side, the ice cream scoops toppled off the cone and splatted onto the dirty, hot concrete. Your title reminded me of this. Even tho the music reminded me of a grandfather waltz remembering such a moment.

It's as painful
to watch as it is to have happen to you ... you can hear the dilemma unfolding: "I can't pick it up, it's dirty now..", "I won't get another one, the truck/van will be gone even if I can persuade me folks"...I felt it time an ode was written to such ubiquitous, precious little moments of personal heart-break. Cheers Tobin for the listen.
