getting it out
Bud did you use some sort of pedal device that lets you sample(loop) what you played , very cool you guy sure know how to to build it up Steve is a great drummer and the bass is thumping it out the switch around 4:27 was very cool! then the almost saw sound like a metal against metal by 5:48 it almost total free flowing arrangement, nice use of feedback btw Jimi would be proud! Man Steve is letting it rip towards the end!

Yep - I use a Boomerang Phrase Sampler
a very early looper pedal. By the one minute mark the loop is in till about 3 minutes - and then it comes and goes to varying degrees with additions as we go along. You can stack new phrases. I used to mostly play rhythm when we were a four piece - now I use the looper. You're right about John and Steve - these guys are great to play with - total commitment. We may not know what we're doing - but we mean it.
The metal sound at the end is just that - I'm bowing the guitar with a the shaft of a steel sculpting file. It has just the right texture to raise a ruckus.
This was the first track of the night after a few weeks off. Thanks for stopping by.

I liked it...
All very in the groove and Bud, special nods for the guitar work, which I thought was marvelous.

Sounds futuristic.
It would fit in as a soundtrack in Blade Runner. Neat sounds, band. Thanks.

One of these days we're
heading into a studio to record with Wharton Tiers producing. Most likely in the fall. I will make sure that you get the splits and can't wait to hear what you do. I'm particularly happy with the live mix and the looper level on this one though.
I've considered buying two Zoom H1 recorders to close record the bass and guitar amps - with the Zoom H2 over the drums. There would be tons of bleed - but better mix options for a $200 ticket.

There's a lot to be said for just turning on a recording device and letting it rip - for one thing cool ideas can arise from spontaneity where they wouldn't otherwise. I enjoyed this jam!
