Description
Came across this short and simple track the other day and thought it might be interesting to post with a little added cello courtesy of GB.

The lyrics are a poem by a friend of mine, Harry Haines, and it was a sort of experiment at the time.

See what you think!

Lyrics
The Blackbird

i heard a blackbird singing,
Its love song to the world,
And i heard the church bells ringing,
The faithful to the word,

And i wondered why the trying
Of man and bird to sing,
Is in his passion crying,
For the same and only thing.

This was a very enjoyable listen. I quite like the addition of cello but really enjoyed it with that penny whistle Nice vocals and acoustic picking.

Ah Mr Whittacker
I thank you for such a delightful ,simple and above all very sort of English folk song.....no offence folks....but it has an english countryside feel to it ......

No
offence taken! Quite the reverse! Love to know that something of the countryside round about here has made itself felt in my music. Really seems to me to be a special thing to express something of the local ambience.

References to Mr Whittacker welcome, too, even though he does seem to imply that the Tyne flows through Durham!

Cheers now

Hi Neil!
Thanks for the comment. Nice to be back. A combination of dark times and struggling with Lion OS are to blame for the absence. Hopefully both sorted now!

Glad you liked the track.

Cheers as always from

Hey very smooth Marc!
I agree with Neil, this suits you very well! Such crisp clear, and well pitched phrases! Which reminds me I need to go have a listen to the mix you sent to the googlesite. Much enjoyed Marc!

Beautiful playing on the guitar-I wish I had learned. The cello and penny whistle are just so charming. The lyrics are lovely which makes this very enjoyable to listen.

Salve from Italy. Very good song descriptive the bird. Text and music flute solos ok.

Hi Falcef
Thanks so much for the Italian version!

It seems to add something to read the lyrics in another language, and the language of love, too?

An unexpected and gratefully received pleasure, thank You, Falcef!

Glad you liked the song,

Assured...
Hi Marc. Short but definitely sweet. Your vocal work is as assured as ever and the cello and penny whistle add wonderfully to the song. Good post. Take care, Peter
