Description
Another iPad Garageband instrumental. Everything was done on iPad2. Lots of smart guitar sound and no keyboard this time. Tried to emulate shredding guitar solo in the bridge. The main rhythm guitar riff reminds me a bit of Edge, thus the title.

Pretty freaking cool! I can't believe what can be done with an iPad and a great ear for music. The phrasing of the lead guitar is particularly impressive.

iPad
Thanks for the kind comment. Playing the touchscreen smart guitar, it really makes me want to learn the real electric one. Smart guitar sounds really thin above certain range, but that's understandable for iPad. Anyways, iPad really is a revolutionary device. It definitely saves a lot of time and space. The majority of this song was written and recorded in the train ride, which, without iPad, would have been impossible.

What
a terrific piece of music. It has a haunting and ready for danger vibe. It would be a good soundtrack for an adventure movie. Thanks.

Interesting mix of a bouncy backing and the distorto guitar. The melody line is nice. Pretty impressive guitar sounds for an iPad. Good fun. And the mix sounds good too. I hear a Satch wanting to get out.

Hello, Les
Thank you for your comments. The combibation of soft and disto guitar was almost accidental. It was both soft bouncy guitar at first, but this combination sounded more interesting. My inner "guitarist" has been wanting to get out since 1980s. Obviously, that has not happened yet, but anyways, at least now I upgraded from air guitar to "Smart" guitar. :)

It's amazing what you can do now with smaller devices out in the market. I'm impressed with your iPad guitar playing. Sounded authentic-well played. Looking forward to hearing more from the iPad2. Almost want to have one now :)

Hi, Patricia
Thank you for your kind comment and the listen. iPad has its limitations, but it can be a resourceful toy, especially when you're traveling. Bending the strings on the touchscreen is a lot of fun, too. :)

Venturing into the future
The ostinato plucked backing with the accompanying bass reminded me a bit of the Ventures, with the grungy lead guitar washing us forward into the 90s. A nicely constructed and played bit of adrenal rush... the iPad has changed the landscape of music software user-interfaces, and its portability has allowed us to create music in the strangest places.

Ah, the (ad)venturous one...
I'm not familiar with the Ventures, but after quick Googling, I found out there're in the Rock and Roll of Fame. I'm glad that some part of my song reminds you of that great group. Thanks for the insightful comment and the listen.

Did a brief stint in a hobby band back in the 90s, and still do some occassional jam sessions with my old buddies. But I don't consider myself a musician or an artist. 'Hobbyist' might be the best word to describe me in macjams. Still, I try to m... [see more]
