Description
This song was written in 2009 as a challenge. A good friend of mine, Terry “TC” Crumpley, posted a drawing his then-17 year old daughter Heather did of an elfin character on a music forum we both frequent. The drawing was amazing; showing a sharp eye for detail, a great sense of movement, and a wonderful sense of proportion and imagination. I was very taken by her work, and asked TC if Heather could draw Tinkerbell for my daughter Abby; who is obsessed with her. I wanted Heather’s version, not simply a rendering of the Disney Tink. A couple of days later, this magnificent picture appeared. I was floored. I asked TC what I could do for her in return. He consulted with her, and her response was “Art for art; write me a song.” So, I did. While I was at it, I wanted to use my “Swannanoa mojo” to write a little bit out of my idiom. I did it as folky as I could, and it’s the only song I’ve ever written or arranged that is 100% guaranteed keyboard-free. You Pat Metheny fans will recognize his influence in this song. Features John Kelly on the solo in the bridge, I'm everything else... From my 2010 CD, Autumn Breeze.

they are completed, and they are both beautiful... the picture and the music. Congratulations to both of you for pushing each other forward in your media. Nice colors and shading in both.

This is delightful. An infectious melody and great production textures throughout. Had me smiling from start to finish. Love the back story, too.

Hi John!
Thanks much man! I just played Pink Flamenco for my besty Shelly Starks (country singer, just signed with Universal UK last week; part of the reason I've been absent, been helping her with stuff) and she was FLOORED, she loves your guitar work...

Hi Phil! I was thinking about you the other day and wondering where you were but now you are back with this beautiful tune. Lovely guitar sounds and a well played bass. The percussion is perfect... amazing how the subtle triangle can add so much to the feel. A real catchy melody.Ah ... the barter system. Art for art, Love it!
Cheers

Thanks man!
I do dig what a triangle can do... I could tell this melody was going to be a success, because it was a complete accident, it just came off my fingers fully formed. That so rarely happens for me...

This some sweet music. A Major Pat Metheny fan here. You have some handle on the acoustic. Very nice production all the way around.

Thanks!!
The specific influential points from Pat are the triangle driven groove and general feel from my favorite Metheny tune, "James" (Offramp album). I didn't consciously realize the influence was there till the song was done and then I heard James after not hearing it for a long time. I said to myself "Wow, clearly this song was an influence for me!"

Hi Phil. Lovely, floating feel with some great bass to tie everything together. Art for art seems like a fair trade. Great listen, as always. Thanks for the D/L. Take care, Peter.

Lovely smooth, light touch, Phil. Love that drum intro spread the way it is. Sweet sounding and cleanly played guitars. Like the way the bass works itself through the melody, too. A super performance! Thanks for the download!
