Green Radishes

This is a chill-out semi-psychedelic piece I put together on the iPad with NanoStudio. Uses effected drum samples on the TRG drum machine (played manually) along with several Eden synth tracks using a fair amount of automated modulation recorded with XY pads. Finally starting to get a handle on NanoStudio - one of the most powerful DAWs for iOS in my opinion.

Hi Michael
If this is psychedelic, I like it! You should intermingle some rock guitars in there. That would put this over the edge (tension). Nice sounds coming from your NanoStudio. I'd like to try some rock guitar over this...

Thanks for listening and the suggestion. If you are offering to put a guitar lead over this, I'd love that - I can send you uncompressed WAVs and/or MIDI files if you want to add to it. Otherwise, I can "synth" some guitars in but that is the limit of my guitar skills!

After watching that new movie 'Drive' last night I got all into synths today. I decided the way to go would be the iPad. I went and tried out gargeband on an iPad today. It was a blast. Made me want to check and see what you are up to. Sorry I missed this one, it sounded great. This could easily be on the soundtrack for a movie about a futuristic dystopian future.

I appreciate the listen!
Thanks for listening - I've actually been neglecting Logic 9 since getting the iPad - I keep finding more and more I want to do on it - I think the touch screen just makes the whole process a bit more interactive. Closer to live instruments psychologically.

XY pads fun!
A fine electronic tune. That NanoStudio's certainly got some nice synth sounds. You could expand on this song. I want more!
I should play with that XY pads of NanoStudio more often myself.

Thanks for listening - the xy pads are great on Nanostudio - really adds movement to the tracks and Nanostudio makes it very easy to record most modulation tweaks. Its still the most powerful (if not my favorite) iPad synth app.

1. Drums are a bit too sparse. I like more continuity.

2. Synths are awesome, especially your XY modulation.

Nanostudio is cool. I've only done one track in it. Should give it another go.

Very helpful!
Thanks for the listen and the feedback as usual is very helpful :) I tend to "tap out" rhythms in Nanostudio using the TRG pads and I do tend to be a bit simplistic with beats. Not a drummer by any stretch of the imagination - I'll have to see about making things more interesting beat-wise. I like the synths as well - Nanostudio is a bit simple with Eden but sometimes simple is good.

What helped me a lot in understanding a drum set is buying a book with written out parts by someone famous, in my case Neil Peart, but take any competent drummer. That gives you a good understanding how a real drummer approaches drumming.
