The future has passed, the past sure is tense, I need a time machine

Not ready yet
I'm enjoying this one, and I wondered what my Jampals would think of it so far. The middle bit is missing lyrics and a blistering guitar break, but I got the ending done! All this could change, of course.

Cheers, Sam
Glad you picked up on this first, Sam. I value your opinion. Now I have to think up something worth singing in the middle bit. I may raid the song that inspired this for ideas. (It's an old one a friend wrote the words for. I'll have to find it first!)

Influences
Dunno. Graham? Sounds just like you. Sure like that driving bass line, and the patented Graham guitar sound. That bit at 2:25 is Toolish, but it retains your own sound. The vocal harmonies sound great. Unexpected chord changes here and there. I always like that. I will be looking forward to the future when you post the next version based upon something from your past.

Tick Tock, said the Harlequin
Ah, you got the message I left in the Cretinous Period. I was thinking of putting in an old Kids in the Hall joke about "There's No Present Like the Time", so watch this time and space. (Influences - Police bass line, Bowie pings and "ahhs", and Beefheart's line about the past. And Tool, and the trailer music for Thor.) I'll be back in a few days.

Thank you so much. I usually post the finished versions, but I got all excited and couldn't wait. I wanted to know what Sam and Les thought of it. I hope Mr Hound gets wind of it too!

Alas
I could not spot the influences, but then again, my area of musical expertise is more in the prehistoric ages, but I sure loved this track--good going Graham! Thanks again, Michael

Medusa Cascade
Thanks, Michael. I wonder if there are any good Marx Bros. quotes about time that I can pilfer for the middle bit? And while I'm at it, why a duck?

Very good...
Hi Graham. Like what has happened to date a lot. I got the Police bass influence but the rest just sounds quality, original work. As Sam says, the mix is wonderfully spacious, too. This is going to be very good. Take care, Peter.

The final frontier
I'm leaving as much room as I can, and trying to get the best feel from each part. Thank you for your encouragement.

I too smelled a bit of Police, but the song sounds very original overall. I actually dig this unfinished version with minimal lyrics and all. "Doom-laden" for the win.

We're all doomed
I used to be in a band called "The Doomed Olsens" , named after an amazing Jimmy Olsen comic, and will attempt to maintain a suitable amount of gloom, balanced with chirpiness. Thank you for listening.

The encouraging words keep coming in. Thank you very much. I've got the middle bit done. I'm remixing and seeing if I can fit some more guitar in.
