Description
I made this song last year as the finale for a musical presentation about scientific etiquette in physics class. The story is about a researcher who fabricated publications in his documents to make himself look good on his application. I wanted to see if I could come up with a cliché and poppy ballad.

Lyrics
Am I too late
Did I miss the chance?
Did I lose my way
Is this the last dance?

I told my lies
I made my mistakes
I didn't read the OBAS
now it's too late!

How do I look to you now
does my face betray
the criminal inside?

How can I go on now?
Is there still a place for me
a place where I can belong?

I didn't see it coming
I didn't sense the signs
It was far too late
before I realized

that I had fabricated
Was it too much to take
I should've have known better
I should've have known better

So I walk alone now
through the empty halls
before the deadline
closes in closes in

I thought I'd make it
but i got caught
through the corridors
in my mind I keep getting lost

I didn't see it coming
I didn't sense the signs
It was far too late
before I realized

that I had fabricated
Was it too much to take
I should've have known better
I should've have known better

Will I be remembered
for my scientific misconduct
I'll be waiting for a research group to accept
me

Do I go now, oh do i go now?
oh I was naive, I couldn't wait
was just a first year graduate!

First!
Nice piano intro. Vocal has a heart-rending quality. Interesting lyrics - certainly something different in subject matter (which is a good thing). I like the way you build the song (drums, strings, harmonies at various stages). Nice clean recording and mix. Much enjoyed!

I love the music.
You did a great job with the vocal. You are ready for the rock opera, "Conscience". Thanks.

Very nice song and some beautiful and unexpected changes. The piano accompaniment is lovely. Excellent lyrics and harmonies. Your vocal is what really sells this.

The bastard
love child of Jeff Lynne and Wayne Coyne!
Strong theatre vibe. Beautifully paced, beautifully performed. Those 'vinegar strings' make it all worthwhile for me. Fine job.

emotional
great piano work in this , the strings really tug at you, like when it kicks in with the drums, great composition well composed ,wasnt sure if you were gonna hit that note when you sung me past the half way point, allot to take in, but definitley worth the trip enjoyed!

cool
and now for something else.....

Definitely an unusual subject matter, but I like what you did with it. Even though, yes, it's kinda cliche.

Great singing, piano playing is good. Strings are too synthetic. I sense you want to go for a string orchestra, but it's too much just a single line. Drums need a ton of reverb to push them back. This dry sound is not what you want with a ballad.

good
beginning..slow mix with strings. minor notes. the vocal has a great emotion and the way you say the words work well for me. tone is spot on . the emotion is a swell of beauty. break at 3:14 is a little spotty but comes back with strength.the drums that kick in are at just the right time. wasnt expecting something so tender from your profile picture. nice work.
