Description
Here’s a song that has a very long story. I wrote it originally back in the early 90’s and it’s about a couple of young lovers from the early 80’s who split up when she went off to University .Happily those young lovers got back together after a 29 year gap and so far, ( 13 months) the story’s going on pretty well!! I’ve done three different versions of this one but this was a single live take and very simple based around Steve’s guitar. Later a mate called Ian came in to add a bit of harmonica and I added a few low fi percussion bits like smacking a cushion and hitting a trowel with a pair of pliers!!...and the teenagers that got back together? Well that was me and T !

Lyrics
Martyn and Josephine
Martyn and Josephine
They were in love
They lived in a dream
Sleeping on floors
With future in laws
She brushes her hair
While he takes a shower
Anything could happen
In the next half hour
Martyn and Josephine
They were in love
They lived in a dream
And Martyn might be older
But he’s really still a child
He thinks he’s now free
From the opinions of his mother
And she cries cos she loves him
But she knows she has
to leave him.
And Josephines a bright girl
The best in her class
She never knew her father
She had to grow up fast
Universities a chance
To escape this little town
But she fell in love with Martyn
He wanted to settle down
And she cries cos she loves him
But she knows she has to leave
him
Martyn and Josephine
They were in love
They lived in a dream

lazy beat and i like the way you sing this..... has a really nice feel with the sparse guitar and intermittent harmonica.... the build is really nice too..... definitely one of your best Mark.... probably because there's a good atmosphere around you and it's coming out in the music...... regards M
