you've got
some very interesting pop sensibilities. i like the chord progression a lot. would love to hear this developed further.

Thanks
it sounds like some mix of Visage's "Fade to grey" with "Forever Autumn" (Justin Hayward) [Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds]. I did try a flute for the lead even- but preferred the Oboe in the end. Will see if I can expand this idea some more....

So fine
Cool stuff with good harmonies. You should definitely develop this (and perhaps lower the lead a bit in the mix :)

Tack så mycket
hmm.. probably could shave a db or 2 off the lead sound (JP4 Oboe), thanks for the heads-up. Will try and develop it more later on... which for me can be anything from 2 weeks to several years lol. :o.

Clean mix
Love the separation L/R speakers. Electronic, yes. But could be used as a soundtrack, in my opinion.

Funny...
..you mention a soundtrack .. as this developed I did start to drift into thinking momentarily of a "Hellboy 3" for example... but any futuristic sci-fi/fantasy could use this.. I was thinking of doing more "industrial" drum sounds too... at least for the chromatic descending lines... it does conjure up kinda futuristic/industrial man colonizing and destroying indigenous beautiful (or not) species a la Avatar/Outlander etc etc. Glad you enjoyed it Dave and for the feedback.. I do spend some time on my stereo-field placement choices while mixing.

Thanks Watson
The best music for me usually always comes back to some very simple idea(s), hook(s), change(s) etc-that just grab you. Simple is seldom not good (or making it sound simple)- makes the music accessible.

Thanks Stan
I came up with the melody and wanted to capture it.. I was surprised that when I figured out the notes I was humming, they were so tight together.. didn't actually expect to hum something so chromatic. Will need to decide if vocals is for this .. or even more soundtrack/instrumental is the way forward. Thanks for listening.

This is a fine start
Actually, it's good by itself but I think it has a lot of promise for development, as I think you do. I agree too, that the oboe should be taken down a little but, other than that, a fine sketch.

Good one...
Like most, I too was caught by the chord progression...this travels very well with just a slight hint of the ominous underlying it all. Thanks for sharing another job well done!

Thank you MJK
for the listen and comment: I do try a shift from ominous/industrial/futuristic to more organic... like a space ship planet fall on a lush green planet... or something of that ilk.

Embedded scarf
I totally dig the song art. Embedded skin scarf. Way cool. The smooth trumpet synth is ethereal. The overdrive sense makes for interest juxtaposition. WIll this be a part of something larger?

Thanks Tobin
might try and extend it some... not sure.. the artwork is excellent: acquired it from http://www.bloodyloud.com .. some amazing manipulated photography there... forget the artists name to tell the truth. That smooth trumpet is a JP4 oboe in fact.. it does give that ethereal touch. Thanks for the listen and comment.

Soundtrack?
Yeah, I've always thought the oboe had more "soul" than the other woodwinds - I think it's the double reeds. I agree though that they should be lower in the mix, as others have said. It is a great melody and progression. Some of the coolest and smartest compositions have been made for tv shows, cartoons, and videogames. I see this in that camp.
