Ambient Electronica

This is my idea of the soundtrack for the scene in Monsters where they are walking around the plaza at night, getting high on Tequila.

It's more Ambient than Electronic, sort of blurring the distinction. Imagine listening to this whilst slowly getting more and more drunk or high whilst you're in a strange but not scarey, more surreal location.

Another fine track from your recent explorations, which I really like. It seems to be right in the middle between your earlier ambient pieces and these new more melodious stuff. I think I'd prefer to have the melody synths and the subtle occuring harmonies even more upfront in this mix though, as I think they are fantastic. I'd love to work on a track like this!

Hi aRcTip......
My working title was 'Crossover' so your observations are spot on.

The mix is this way because of the euphoric atmosphere that I was trying to evoke. The soundscape was 'all background' to add dreamy ambience to the scene. More detailed or clean melodies would have diminished the idea to me although the track as 'another electronic track' would be able to support more easily defined instruments without the context of dreamy drunkenness or a hazy high.

Drop me a note if you want any basic tracks and I'll send them to you, for you to do what you want, or tell me what you would like as a basis for working on and I'll put something together. No problem.

Take care.

I could see:
creatures descending into a mine or cavern-like passage where there is dripping water and the echoes of that go on and on throughout the many tunnels. Or: people bouncing around on an unfamiliar planet, in a rover. So chill and imaginative. Thanks.

Hi Demeter7.....
Thanks for stopping by to listen. Your thoughts about the piece are a great interpretation. I'm going to listen again with your ideas at the front of my mind.

I hope it wasn't too chill for you whilst listening.

Take care.

I would no have guessed this was your work Paul. I see what you mean about the ambient and electronic. I got hooked straightaway and this keeps me reeled in - monsters or not. The lower tones sound like bubbles coming up through a viscous liquid, and so I see a large lab or factory bathed in orange low key light with vats and glass pipes and steam coming out here and there.

This a wonderful piece. Downloading ... now.

Hi Doug......
I'm trying, with crossover pieces, to get back to my melodic writing. I have so much classical music in my head that I need to let some of it out.

You picture you paint is very valid, especially the vats, with all different coloured liquids in them, that will be used to print a vast canvas of musical ideas some time in the future.

Take care.
