You Don't Have To (orchestral version)

Description
This is the pop orchestral version of the same song that I posted today. The original sounded country/Tex-Mex according to early comments. I revised the instruments to give a more contemporary pop sound. This is an iPad composition using the 5-dollar app Garageband for iOS, later finalized with vocals in my iMac.

Lyrics
YOU DON'T HAVE TO
(vocals, lyrics, melody and arrangement by Leon)

You don't have to gaze at me when I look you in the eye
You don't have to pretend an embrace when I put my arms around you
You don't have to force to smile to make me feel good 'bout myself
You don't have to say you love me, when the feeling isn't there anymore
I'm not insensitive I can read your mind…

You don't have to kiss me back when I come close to you
You don't have to feel sorry when I feel shattered inside
You don't have to dream with me when I let my thoughts wander in your eyes
and wonder what could ever be
You don't have to pretend when we both know
that you and I will never be.

I can read your mind, taste the bitter in your lips
like acid burning hearts of you and me
I can touch your heart, feel enough your anguish
to know that there ain't love anymore
Drowning in the depths of lost faith and indifference
You don't have to tell me lies to know there's no more you and me

You don't have to say a word…

You don't have to kiss me back when I come close to you
You don't have to feel sorry when I feel shattered inside
You don't have to dream with me when I let my thoughts wander in your eyes
and wonder what could ever be
You don't have to pretend when we both know
that you and I will never be.

I can read your mind, taste the bitter in your lips
like acid burning hearts of you and me
I can touch your heart, feel enough your anguish
to know that there ain't love anymore
Drowning in the depths of lost faith and indifference
You don't have to tell me lies to know there's no more you and me...

Hi, Vic
THanks for appreciating my voice. You are a prolific producer of songs, and they are high quality productions. I was wondering if I can sing a few of your compositions as a showcase of both of our strengths. I always wanted to sing on somebody else's composition but it's good to have at least a working idea of how you want it to sound.

Amazing
singing, Leon. I've been there. It made me cry. Instruments sound terrific but oh my, you sing the truth out of a song. Thanks.

Thanks for the heartwarming comments. I probably had the voice but it was a slow growth into the musician that I am now. I didn't realize I could "sing" until I got out of the choir and glee club and started trying to sing solo in college. Macjams definitely helped make it flourish, gaining confidence to the point that I actually joined and sang lead for a band, which I did for about two years. Music is a joyful experience indeed and I salute you for your dedication to it. You're an inspiration.
