Michigan Winter

 Genre: Acoustic

A song inspired by bad roads, icy windshields, and hot coffee. I wrote this, sang, and played guitar. My brother contributed the bass line, and a drummer friend contributed the skins.

It’s just another Michigan winter
Starts in November, ends in May
The frost on the windshield
The frost on the grass
The blue sky gives way
As the earth turns to gray

Baby, I’m sleepwalkin’
Don’t mind me, that’s just the coffee talkin’
Scrape the ice off my eyes,
Start it up and then drive

We’ll be warm
By the time we arrive
Just in time
To go back outside

The slush in the potholes
The salt on my shoes
I break and the snow slides
The freezing road construction crews

Baby, I just keep driving
Slip on until we arrive and I
Scrape the sleep from my eyes
Pour a third cup of java jive

Keeps me goin’
Until my break time
Do it all
Do it all again at 5

Brrrrrrrr! That's why I live in Florida! Very nice song. Love the jazzy Van Morrison swing! Sweet clear guitar sound. Great vocal! Love the throaty bass tone and smooth work on the drums.

Thanks Alack. Dig the Van Morrison comparison. That sweet clear guitar sound was actually the '67 Martin 0-18 model on my Line 6 Variax 600 guitar. I was going to replace it with my Taylor, but dug the tone enough to just use it. I'll pass on the compliment to my brother on the bass work.

Grand Rapids
Nice opening love the Bass line. I know what you mean my man. Grand Rapids is where I grew up. Nice lyrics and your vocals smooth as ice. Guitar mellow and streamed. Bass is still kicking me. Production Excellence. Musical Magic.

A Sincerely Zipped, TvRicky

Another Native Grand Rapidian
Grew up in GR, went to Northview... I now live on the other side of the state, but I'm writing this from DeVos Place downtown GR, where I'm at a music tech conference. Currently, we have 3 lake-effect inches on the ground since last night, and tons of wind, bringing highway speeds down to 20MPH. Glad to take you back to the Winter Wonderland for a few minutes.

Many thanks!
I just write what the muse brings me... It would be nice if I could put together an album in one style, but I thank you for your support!
