This is something a tad bit different stylistically for me. Maybe a little more soft rockish, adult contemporaryish than I've really done before. Musically, it probably comes from a stretch of time many, many moons ago when I was on a real Style Council, Simply Red and the like kick. I did the guitar way back when and let it sit until a few weeks ago when boredom, er, make that inspiration struck and I sat down to write some lyrics and flesh it out.

Our so called "Winter" (70s one day 40s the next) has been playing havoc on my voice, so the vocals are a bit strained, but compared to what they would sound like now if I tried to sing it, well...

As it turns out, it's a fairly warm (for February) Friday afternoon with a little rain falling outside which, for me, goes just perfect with this tune.

I hope you enjoy.

Eyes will tell
like story books
open to the final page

Bodies lie
when they feel so right
Passion tells a tale
That’s never true

Never tell me you love me
Never tell me I’m your world
Never tell me you’ll stay with me
Just take my hand
and smile

Emotions will fall
like spring time rain
finding the thirsty ground below

Flowers grow
and quickly die
leaving faded memories

Never tell me you love me
Never tell me I’m your world
Never tell me you’ll stay with me
Just take my hand
and smile

Real nice ride my friend, reminds me somehow of Christopher Cross in guitar and vocal flava..melody shines, and the rhythm section provides a wonderful canvas for the vocals..like the late strings too...nice ear candy 4sure..:):):)peace

I get the February rain reference. The tone of grey melancholy is threaded right through the vocals and the guitar solo. Nice arrangement and overall production Joseph.

Keep well,

A bit
of 'strain' never really hurts a vocal (that's what I have to tell myself) and the way you sing this, so suits the song.... I love the open-ness..... and the lightness of your voice; sounds really great/ fresh. I think this is beautifully recorded, guitars, backing and arrangement...... very classy indeed and I love it, regards M

yep, definitely a change for you, but it works just fine. Never has an open sound and feel to it that kinda pulls you in. the guitars sound pretty sweet.
