Description
Just imagine - Patrick Moore is the last person left alive on the planet. This is almost certainly what he would sing.

Up in the observatory all the lights go down

One by one the stars come out without a sound

Telescope and astrolabe gyre and gymble in the wabe

Excellent groove established in the intro. Love that strong bass. Nice vocal - excellent harmonies! I like the first soaring guitar solo, and the later choppy one. Clean and wide mix. Thanks for the download!

Blimey, that was quick.
The bass line is nicked from Steely Dan, but I'm sure they got it from the girl from Ipanema or one of her pals. I like the first guitar break too. The tune of it bugged me for days before I had chance to record it. The second one is on the Ovation, in lieu of a nylon strung guitar, which I don't have, sadly. I'd love to hear this sung by proper singers. My voice doesn't lend itself to whispery stuff like this. I'm okay with the shouting, but not the whispering. Thanks for being first!

Is that an electric acoustic? Really like the easy going feel of this. Very nice and catchy harmonies ... nice break ...very very nicely done and a good mix. Enjoyed this very much.

Standing Ovation
...in the corner of my garage. It's an electric Balladeer from the late 70's - a brilliant guitar. Whenever I can't do something on the electric I switch to the Ovation and viola! This is probably the most melodic thing I've done, hence the melody. It was based on Mutant Man, which is odd as they sound nothing alike. Glad you enjoyed it.

Patrick Moore
would be playing his xylophone too!
This is nice and chilled. I've been drinking coffee all day and it's sort of calmed me down. Really nice song and I too have taken a copy, thank you.

Coffee riles you up
Just in case you didn't know. Still, if it makes you amenable to my tunes, I'm all for it. If I had a xylophone I'd stick it in there. (For the piano bit, probably.) Thank you for listening and downloading.

Felt
I feel a slight "war' influence. A little latin groove feels smooth and crafty a real slick Production. Vox set it apart and define your individual touch in composition. Wonderful my man. Musical performance excellent baby!

War? Wow!
Maybe it's the cowbell/bucket sound every now and then. War always had great percussion. I've just got a keyboard and my wife's tambourine. Sob! Thanks for stopping by.

I hope I didn't steal it
I don't think I've inadvertently borrowed someone else's tune, but it's unusual for a song of mine to have a tune you can hum after you hear it. I must have another go some time. Meanwhile, back to the cacophony! Cheers!

I've observed (with my ears)
that this is very cool, just as the five knowledgeable folks above have stated: melody, bass line, percussion (even though simple), etc. Unfortunately i have to show my ignorance (again) by not knowing who PM is; it doesn't affect my enjoyment though. I also took a copy; thanks.

He's a star!
He's the English Carl Sagan, only much, much cooler (ie more eccentric), and if he indeed were the last man on earth it would be very Twilight Zone - y. Mr Moore is also a composer and a xylophonist and a brilliantly entertaining TV presenter. He was also in the English audio version of "Independence Day". What a guy! I'm pleased you liked the tune, too!

to sound this laid - back. Who knew it would be so much work? Thanks for your kind remarks.

Observatory
Q: "Why waste money on space research when there is so much to be done here?"

Of this type of question, PM later said, "I know that I'm dealing with an idiot."

Yes, my kinda guy.

I was wondering how you would fit a 5-syllable word into a song, but I had forgotten that you Brits make a 4-syllable word -- ub-zerv-uh-tree. Well, another tune that goes down smooth. I like your vocal harmony work. Sounds like two different guys singing together. How do you do that? Beautiful guitar work, as always. Fine arrangement and production.

Observe a tree
My students have been trying to get me to say "dictionree" properly. I told them I would pronounce it their way when they stop saying "liberry". Mr Moore is the individualist individual since ever. He calls himself a dinosaur, but then reminds us that dinosaurs ruled the earth for a very long time. With regard to the "harmonies", I strangle. When I can bear no more, the harmonies are done. Nice to see you, Mr Kloo. Now to get back to the cassowary compound.

I do live on an island
so it would have to have some sort of island feel, except that it ought to be calypso. Good to have you stop by, Sam.

Assured - a very good song
Well, Graham, this has a wonderfully composed and assured feel to it. Like the smooth, latin style groove and the excellent mix. Your vocal work and harmonies are also first rate. A very good song, fullstop.

MASH
You're right, I can hear the singers from the MASH theme doing this. Maybe that's where I stole it from. That and "L.A. is a great big freeway". Re the pic - quick sketches, coloured quickly using Color It! I prefer quick, loose cartoons to ones you have to labour over. Can't do it with song, though. Thanks for your kind remarks.

Whacky and wonderful.
Talent shines through in this in lots of ways. It's all well done, from the idea through to the final product. Maybe I am biased because the guitar is my favourite instrument and you do such great things with it.

Ovation standing
in the corner of my garage, waiting to have fun. A lot of my friends bought Ovations on the strength of my old electric Balladeer. None were disappointed. Thanks for visiting.
