Thanks, Sam
If you approve I know I'm on the right track. At MacJams we're not all alone and adrift.

Sea of time
The introduction is magical. Sure there's something Floydian about this. But I'm really hearing a strong XTC influence. Regardless, it's an excellent song with a creative and interesting arrangement. Excellent production too.

Mr Partridge
is the British Brian Wilson. I wish he weren't so quiet recently, but he's given so many amazing songs already. Frank Zappa was a fan, if I'm not mistaken. (He liked the guitars in "Books are Burning", where the three guys showed off what they could do, and it was pretty durn wonderful, I'd say.) Any comparison to XTC is a huge compliment. Thank you.

Solid beat this sits on. Nice guitars and ethereal vocal. Good one, Graham!

I thought every day was MacJams day. Maybe some days are more than others.

A very fine post
Hey, Graham, you are on a real roll at the moment. This is a very fine post. Wonderful mix and the vocal work is cool. The slide is very tasty, too. Not unhappy about being adrift on a sea of time. Thanks, Peter.

Not a drop to drink
... apart from the Merlot I'm guzzling. Did anyone spot Big Ben? I had to drop him a tone or two to make him fit. He's there instead of the gong. Incidentally, there will be a gong in every recording from now on, as gongs are hellishly expensive. Thanks for stopping by, Mr Peter.

Yes, you are on a roll. Excellent work here. Vocals, guitar, everything working. Love the production and that big, bad electric that underlies. Very songish piece, with appealing chord changes that make sense. Can't keep that sense of humor down --- a cuckoo clock hahaha.

Yoohoo, it's Kloo
I bought an SFX CD set last summer for a pound in a charity store in London, and I'm determined to get my moneysworth out of it. So far I've only used the Turkish Market, cuckoo clock, ticktock and various weapons and explosions. I reckon I still have 50p to go. Now I have to write a song about a jellyfish typing a novel.

Takes me to the Great Times!
I am in the Late 60's early 70's aura here baby. Tripping would be mine right now. Such melody and feel coming over me. Funk rising and I glossing along a musical bed of slick Vox and musicians magic. Play it my friend! "Bad"

Lush Floyd
... is what I was after here. My voice isn't as soothing as I'd like it to be, but one is never satisfied with one's own stuff. I'm glad it took you back to simpler times (apart from Vietnam and nuclear threats and social unrest). I liked it back then too, specially the music.

Graham
like how the vocals are upfront and not overproduced... which is what I have a tendency to do. But that's me looking for the 'No longer sucks' button on my voice. I appreciate the clear simplicity of this. Bass drums voice - slide and acoustic... which sets this song up a notch by the way.

Keep it simple
That's my mantra, after a friend in the UK advised me. The fewer effects on everything, the better, I reckon. Thank you for comment re acoustic. If I admitted to playing anything reasonably well, it would be my faithful Ovation. Thanks also for listening.

I'm afraid
I know know a whole lot about Pink Floyd (you know how it is with me--shoot me later, okay?) but I know this was quite extraordinary and some very fine work--my ears tell me this and they never fail (except my OWN stuff!) Thanks again Graham--full marks all round here.

No Prombley
You're lucky never to have gotten sick of hearing the same Floyd tunes on Rawk stations, as they were a remarkable band. I was inspired by "Us and Them" and David Gilmour's "On An Island" for this tune. Plus a whippoorwhill that haunts the bush at the back of our house. So nice of you to give my music a listen.

Ta very much
I have no idea what I'm doing with the harmonies, just trying to cover up a weak singing voice. But I'm getting better at covering it up! As for Floyd - if you have to aspire, aim high. Their music is deceptively simple, yet profoundly well - done. It's very pleasing that I can approximate what I hear when I listen to them.

Sea of Time
I am glad I stumbled on this one. I like the vibe going here. It's probably just me-but I can hear a lil Beatles with Yes influence as well. Two bands I like very much. Great composition overall with nice lyrics and harmonies. Good job.

Thanks for sharing,
patty

Yes, it's The Beatles
Thank you, and you're right - probably Sun King, that lush, sunny mantlepiece by John. I also listen to Yes a lot, so that influence will pop out occasionally.

Nautical Time
A very nice personal extrapolation on Floyd's style, exhibiting a unique flavor all its own. Somewhat dreamy and hypnotic. Personally, I would have had that last, crashing and sustained note meshed and faded out with the sound of the sea, like a motorboat heading out into uncharted waters. ;)

Beside the sea
I tried to do that, but it was hard to get the two sounds to melt into one another - I need some sea that sounds like a guitar, or a guitar note that sounds like the sea. Glad you enjoyed it.

Jellyfish
My favourite guitar to play is slide with loads of echo on it, but it's not always possible to fit it in. I forgot to add "Matte Kudesai" in the list of inspirations - it has a lovely, dreamy quality that made its way into my song, I hope. Thanks for listening.

Sea of Time
I missed this one ... this is an excellently performed piece and a fab mix. Very nice harmonies. Yes it sounds like this and that ... I even hear beatles but I also hear a totally inspirational tune. Some fine doo didly hammer ons and pull offs and that lead slide tone is pretty cool. You have a lot of interesting nuances throughout ... that crunchy guitar chord is great! Really enjoyed this.
Cheers

Stays crunchy even in the Sea of Time
I like the crunchy bits too. What I'm after is a King Crimson/Beatles mix, playing reggae. Not too much to ask, is it? Happy you stopped by and liked what you heard.

Yellow submarine surfacing
Is it the image you posted or is it really the music that takes me all the way back to The Beatles and Yellow Submarine? Fantastic stuff although it is not the kind of music I would normally listen to these days. Kind of a nice blast from the past. I love your classical British sixties harmonies there.

By George, I do believe it IS a Yellow Submarine, but not a Brown Bomber in sight. Glad you chose to listen, despite your changing musical tastes.

Great song, great vocal work. Guitars are cool too, but after a while that slide becomes a bit much.

It's fun though
I've got a slide guitar and I'm not afraid to use it! I just love the echo on it and indulge myself. After all, I'm not forcing anyone to listen or to buy it. Thanks for your comments.
