Requiem for Trayvon Martin

The News is usually so filled with hate and horror that most of the time I tune it out. But this case has struck a blow deep inside my heart.

As a Black man living in America I've had my share of suspicious looks... clutched handbags..... and blatant prejudice thrown my way. It becomes so commonplace that most of us relegate it to background static like a poorly tuned radio.

But I am also the father of a young Black male and the thought of losing him to a senseless act like this makes my blood first run cold, then boil with outrage.....

This could have been anyone's child......this could have been my child.....

my heart and prayers go out to Trayvon's loved ones

Such a Dramatic Composition!
Cee so deep and felt. I have several relatives his age and I feel your concern. Although it may not be understood by many. Trayvon is the light shinning on the truth! Young Black men are in danger and the most harassed group of men in this country today. Hope reigns throughout this piece. And that my friend is supreme!

Requiem for Trayvon Martin
I think all of us who are parents, regardless of race, share your outrage over the shooting of Trayvon Martin. I think your piece does well to capture the full range of emotions surrounding this tragedy. It is both mournful while containing a bit of powerful anger. The melodies and the arrangement are lovely.

Clay - my tears are yours, and i'm sure there will be more.
Your sensitivity is a beautiful thing. That little touch of heavenly vocal is perfect. I'm sorry you had to write this, and am also very glad you did.

This Is Why.....
I live in Canada, coming home from the war in the early 70's times were
not nice, if I stayed there I'd be dead or in gail for the rest of my life, I
was sure of that, cause I couldn't take the crap you guys take down there....

This one hurts but there has been many in the past >20 yrs.
that never got this kind of publicity, times are bad so this is real close
to the last straw......Good track

A moving piece of music made all the more powerful by the extraordinary event that prompted you to write it.

piece -- it does what it sets out to do, and does so admirably. A worthy elegy that mourns a great injustice in a dignified manner.
