Music for Saint Cecilia

 Genre: Classical

This is a collaboration organised by toveco who put me in touch with Soulima and DonnaMarilyn (Donna Devine) who are artistes on another site.

Soulima had written this beautiful melody, and toveco (Tom) saw the potential for it to be a song. Donna's wonderful and authentic lyric reflects her thorough research and is a hymn to the Saint's dying words. I feel honoured to have been asked to contribute to this emotional work of art and hope you enjoy and feel as touched by it as do I.

Music: Soulima

Lord (St. Cecilia’s Dying Prayer)

I stayed true
Teaching in your name
Beloved bridegroom
Guardian of my virtue

It was you
Who heard my songs
Most holy Saviour
Oh, my deep heart’s longing

Light my path
Husband of my heart
Let me sleep safely
In your arms forever

Font of grace
Please lead me home
My soul is rising
And no sword can slay me

Show your face
Let it shine on me
Your lowly handmaid
As I enter Glory

It is indeed a beautiful tune - uplifting, with inspirational lyrics. Your vocal is full of warmth and tenderness. You have the ability to move from high to low notes with ease. The backing is just right. Congratulations to all involved!

Great collab !
Your voice is so impressive Rosalind. I happen to work on similar orchestral music (sometimes in similar style as this work you just posted), we should try a collab one of these days.

Such a beautiful prayer.
I needed something peaceful this morning, and knew I would find it while searching your songs. This prayer of St. Cecilia is so VERY beautiful as a composition, and your absolutely compelling and beautiful singing of it is just melts my heart. What a marvelous gift you have both in the quality of your voice, but in your soulful understanding of the blend of music and words. You have created something exquisite here. Why there are only 7 comments is a mystery to me, but do not be discouraged. Those who hear this lovely music consider it a special and unequivocal gift to be treasured. Thank you.

Thank you...
...so much for your appreciative comments, and which I have passed on to the composers who will be delighted to read them. As for the limited comments, well I guess that's down to me not being too pro-active around here :-(
