Óupplýst (Unexplained)

 Genre: Film Scoring

Get Flash to see this player.

This fall I landed my first real TV gig when I started scoring an Icelandic TV series called "Óupplýst" ("Unexplained") which was a 7 episode series about unexplained paranormal phenomena in Iceland. The shows were all based on Icelandic people's stories about ghosts, demonic possessions, aliens, mediums and other paranormal activity so it gave me a really fun chance to be eerie and ominous.

This is the title theme from that series.

P.S. I also plan to upload some of the cues from the episodes here in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!

We shouldn't be surprised, but talent and skill isn't always easy to transform into gold ;-) Once into it, it should probably be a little easier, though, especially since this is such a great start. Really big dynamic range, a mood that seems to include all of these unexplained things, rather than "just" being creepy or something, and only the right amount of Hollywoodish grandeur... Well done, as always.

Continued good luck and thanks for letting us in on the journey :-)

is a big deal. This theme sounds grand and portentous. I hope the series lives up to the music. Thanks for letting us hear it.

This is something I could imagine you doing since, oh, when you were fourteen or whatever you were when you became a MacJammer...

Very impressive, with the trademark Einar "light and shade", the dynamic impact and contrasts and intensity...

Good thing they didn't hire you for light comedy... Although maybe that would be GOOD: light comedy scored with intense and dramatic music...

Meanwhile, this is pretty darned impressive....

After they hire you for 'Game Of Thrones', or 'The Hobbit, part Eight', I'll say I knew you when...

Here's a thought:
Take the intro music from 'Fringe', 'Elementary' and a few other fairly high budget American TV shows with forgettable intro scores, then have 'Einarus' replace them with a much better one! I even watched the first episode with your score, and like i said in the message, perfect for the show, but beyond that just really excellent music.
