Pete's Tune

Get Flash to see this player.

This is a bossa nova tune I wrote in 1965. Pete was a pianist in a band I played in back in the early sixties, but since I have limited skills at the keyboard he became a sax man in this song.

Never have I ever heard a bluer melody,
Than when Pete would play his melancholy tune for me.
He’d push his sleeves up, he’d turn his drink up,
As the band began to play his lay.
He’d pull the mike up, he’d close his eyes,
And with a wistful smile he’d sigh,
Then he would play.

Good old Pete never let us down,
He’d always play that tune
When we were gathered round.
But I could tell from the very start
He played it for a broken heart,
How he would play.

I always
like a good Bossa and this is a great tune and lovely instrumentation to back the vocals.... though the vocals could just go down a slight notch do you think?..... Enjoyed, regards M

Pete's Tune
Thanks for listening and for your comment. I'll have to listen to the song after a time has passed. I find that I get tone deaf when I listen to a song too much.
