I use solo strings advanced for my very limited string work and I love it. the strings and oboe sound real good and that has to do with your phrasing and choice of notes. Instruments.... are nice-sounding. Piano is sharp and very clear throughout the register. (Which one is it?). The Kontakt instruments are very very good, too. I use the winds a lot from this collection because they're some of the best around. That solo violin sounds quite nice as well. ... And you have assembled all of these forces into a very pretty song that has some unusual harmonic changes that are very very appealing. I think you did a marvelous job with this little chamber piece, mixing with care and synching instruments with great accuracy, not always an easy task. Check out my latest song called Caprice

Nicely done Bill! Sometimes I love modern technology and how it enables us to command such an array of instruments from our desktop. Six Pieces Great piece of work! A good stretch for you perhaps? Highlights? Lovely dissonance and emotive counterpoint- outstanding! Rare indeed. The effect of compression on the piece seems to have reduced the dynamic range though... This always annoys. It can't be helped because of the environment we are working in... Intimate I like this one Bill - you have a minimalist feel which for this tune is perfect and is what I think makes it so appealing in terms of approachability. Nice phrasing and how the melody is passed around the ensemble making for variation and letting all those virtual musicians have a chance for their day in the sun. I have the Kontakt strings but have tended to use East West as my go to package for large orchestral pieces. Six I'm enjoying this. There is some good melody writing. One observation: the strings have a nice quartet section in the middle which really brings out the four voices. However, when they piano and oboe are playing they just hold long notes. Try writing something that truly uses six parts all at once? Check out my latest song called Ten minutes

Sounds like your having fun with those newly acquired orchestral instruments! Next to the cello, oboe is perhaps my next fav. I liked the little recurring theme in this.. my only tip would be taking care when making string "legato" sounds play faster patterns (like at 1:26)- sometimes you have to swap in a 'faster' version of the instrument (so they don't sound sluggish), not necessarily staccato.. you can of course instead try just adjust the attack and release just for some runs. Not sure about a couple of notes in the Oboe melody towards the end.. the dissonance sounded a bit out of place in such a sweet piece. Overall: lovely piece, packed with drama and big moments.
