Description
A song I wrote earlier last year, that I posted here on MacJams.
Lisa H (Fred Jams introduced me to her - Thank you Freddy) gave me her beautiful vocals to mix on this song, and after hearing how well she sung, decided to go back to scratch on this and remix a new version.

Hope you enjoy and Happy 2013 MacJammers!

Lisa Hawbaker: Vocals and Lyrics

Lyrics
SLEEP SOFTLY

Lisa Hawbaker: Vocals/Lyrics
Gerald Grech: Music/Composition/Mix

I want to know you're thinking
I wanna hear what's in your heart
What is it you are feeling?
will it in time tear us apart?

Words can hurt and words can harm
Please protect me I'm not strong
I can't bear to feel the pain
I can't bear all the shame
Speak softly

I see the look on your face
I see the longing in your eyes
I feel the cold in your touch
I feel the absence of your love

Words can hurt and words can harm
Please protect me I'm not strong
I can't bear to feel the pain
I can't bear all the shame
Speak softly

Your body not responding
you're slowly moving away
I know it's gone forever
there is nothing left to say

Great track! I love your approach to synth based composition and arranging. You know how to match tones so everything has its space. Pro stuff.

Love the vocal and lyrics. I was particularly struck by the first line of the chorus. I've recently come to appreciate the difference between hurt and harmed. I used it in my recent post. Interesting that Lisa used it here. Cool!

Very nice
Beautiful stuff here, Gerald! Lisa's vocals are, indeed, beautiful, and the backing track is wonderfully moody. Excellent all around.

Nice Mix ...
... however with Lisa's STRONG vocal I would have liked to have heard her a little more prominent in the mix ... the vocal feels a little blended - let that girl shine !

Thank you for coming by and leaving your comment. Well I had to boost her vocal up considerably, maybe I should have done a bit more, but have taken what you have said onboard :)

Beautiful piece
On a sad subject. Really nice singing of the heartfelt words, well(!) mixed in your powerful music bed. Apropos, if you want to edit the lyrics header... ;-)

Thanks, and have a happy and productive 2013!

Take care,

Huge.
The spaciousness of the mix here is impressive, I'll have to learn how to do that one day! Heartfelt singing and the aforementioned spacious mix make this a cut above the average. Well done to both of you!

I'm late getting to this ... fantastic music ... beautiful wide mix. Real nice synth work ... I like the way you build on that dreamy melody before the beat kicks in. You've got to hand it to Fred ... he is a great man and music lover and has teamed you up with a some good lyrics and wonderful vocalist ... I hope there is more in the future.
You write some good stuff Gerald ... must be all that cold OZ weather!
Cheers

Yes Fred is a 'top notch bloke' (as we say here). And Lisa's vocals/lyrics are absolutely wonderful.

As for future work, I hope so too, we will see :)

Good blend of synth sounds that both support and intertwine with the vocal. Thoughtful lyrics. Good one, Gerald!
