Description
I’ve tried some uncommon vocal arrangements here at MacJams in the past, but I seem to have some difficulties ”selling” it to You guys ;-) So this time I’m trying a more ”straight” approach. Well, I hope You’ll like it.

Lyrics
Nowhere too fast

You know the bus that we are riding,
a lonely ride where you pay what you earn
There aint no running away or hiding,
we’re on a one-way street, no return

Going through life looking out the window,
I can see you driving in style
I wish that i could be there right beside you,
just to ride with you for a mile

You’re in the wrong lane heading west
I’m going nowhere too fast

There’s no stop and there’s no arriving,
mile after mile and day after day
I can tell there’s no-one driving
and nobody else is going my way

Fun familiar sounds.
I liked your song.

It had a really cool way of sounding like thick as a
brick meets hazy shade of winter.

I have to say your vocals sound alot like Ian ? from
Jethro Tull. That's fine by me too, and when they
aren't they sound like John Mayal! I loved that to be
honest.

Good use of tension and build-up. This is a fantastic
raw base for a really kick ass song. I think room for
improvement is mostly in the mixing and production.

Where I would put additional attention:
1.) The drums. Needs more variation and texturing.
Don't use too many fills.
2.) Experiment with the (Wurli?) sound more to make
it thicker sounding.
3.) Eq and texture on the bass. Thin down around 3k,
and try a little 100hz.
4.) Try boosting up the volume and thickeness of the
solo/instrumental break. Would make more of a
crescendo sorta thing happen. (definitely work on
the drums during the solo)
5.) Try altering the guitar and keys sounds a little
more during the solo to help them become more
differentiated from the rythym parts.
6.) Back this up, you don't want to lose it.

Great tune.

Wow, thanks!
I agree that it is a little unfinished. I tried to keep it a bit clean, since i think
my other efforts has an over-produced feel to them. (Feel free to listen and
comment on them too).

I'm still struggling with the chorus, it really doesn't
have the catchy melody i was looking for. I will make a "take 2" of this one
and i will try out all the suggestions You have made. Thanks again for Your
praise of my vocals, they are of course the most personal of the "sound
image" that I'm trying to create, and therefore the compliments are especially
warming.

Glad to offer a set of ears....

Yes and I would stay clear of the 'meadow muffin of horror' that awaits
your foot if you step into it.... Be scared, be very scared, discouraged
and paranoid too. Just kidding of course.

Your stuff is noticed now. The rest is alot of fun, and it stinks. But it's
free, entertaining and occasionally useful. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll
kiss five hours goodbye...every time you log in to CrackJams©.

Punch out some comments when you can, and you'll find a loyal bunch
of listeners. People tend to 'do onto others' around here...give what you
want to receive, and you'll get it too. Those rules don't apply to socio-
paths though...so don't be one and you're in THE only club there is
here..MacJams.

Ian Anderson, that's the name on the tip of your tongue. One of the greats.
Imagine if he and Joe *censored*er could have had kids... what they would do
in front of a mic. Probably couldn't stand up. But imagine the music! (Nice
tune, by the way.)

GOOD to know I am not all alone
I just read your forum post, but I decided rather than to
comment on it, I would do one better and come hear a
song. Nice to meet you.

I feel your frustration about this place. It is my
understanding that the place is rather like "high school"
all over again. There are popularity contests, and the
winner gets to pick on "mr or miss unpopular". You would
not even believe it......the things that they can do to
someone. But anyway enough about that. I truly hope
that we can be friends. You will be the first one that I
have actually made and kept in almost 4 months!!!!

NIce track......the lyrics are awesome....they really mean
something yet aren't too wierd, nor cheesey sounding at
all.. That is something I cannot seem to do.

I agree with Uncle about the drums needing some more
variation. I also think that the vocal line melodically
speaking could use a little more variation as you tend to
stay centered around the same pitches for the most part.

I like the solo sections. Very nice guitar sound. What I am
missing also though, and this could be my preference, is
some more girth or power in your bass line. Have you
tried any of the bass amp setting in Garage Band? I think
that the bass line deserves to provide more power behind
everything.

Sonically speaking here, and my opinion is not of value
here trust me on that one, you have a great piece. I am
new to doing vocals and lyrics, and I will look up to you as
I try new things out.

As far as selling something around here.......only if you are
in good with the "cool" people can you do much of
anything around here. Sad but true. So people like me
and you that value music and helpful comments based not
upon prejudice or popularity can change that. We can at
least stick together.

Again glad to meet you and hear your music. I will be
back for more!!!!!

Sincerely,
MidiMacMan.

?Ģ?Ģ?Ģ Thanks, it's always tough not to write in Your native tongue...

I agree with Uncle about the drums needing some more
variation. I also think that the vocal line melodically

?Ģ?Ģ?Ģ Yeah, You sorta get "blind spots" (deaf-spots?) when You've been
working on something for a while. I paint too, and the only way i can see my
ongoing paintings with new eyes is to stand with them before a mirror. You
wouldn't believe how many faults You can see. Well, in here I'm kinda using
You guys as mirrors, and listening to it again I can see that the trouble all
over is variation, in melody, in intensity... and I really have to do
something about the chorus...

I like the solo sections. Very nice guitar sound. What I am
missing also though, and this could be my preference, is
some more girth or power in your bass line. Have you
tried any of the bass amp setting in Garage Band? I think
that the bass line deserves to provide more power behind
everything.
?Ģ?Ģ?Ģ I'm having severe problems with the bass. I usually play at night and need
to use headphones on account of the rest of the family sleeping. I have a pair
of capped Sonys, which are great, but loses a lot of the bass, and i have
another pair of Sennheisers, which has a great bass thump, and listening to it
through speakers in the morning, sounds different in a third way. I think this
is a tough nut to crack. How do You do it?

Sonically speaking here, and my opinion is not of value

new to doing vocals and lyrics, and I will look up to you as

?Ģ?Ģ?Ģ Now You got me blushing, silly You ;-)

Again glad to meet you and hear your music. I will be

?Ģ?Ģ?Ģ Thanks again for Your input, it is much appreciated!

Great sound, great song
I like this very much. Perhaps the drums are a little
unvaried, but the strong driving beat works very well
and there's plenty of melodic interest with the
different instruments. This is very accomplished and I
hope more people will come and listen to it as you
establish yourself on MacJams. (By the way, it's not
true that there are "popularity contests" or "prejudice"
here on MacJams - there are plenty of people here
who just love to share music and encourage others -
it just takes a while for them to find you.)

Love the pace of this
Great uptempo song. Not to be a follower but the song
needs a little filling out.... I don't think you need to add
anything but just mess the mix some. Personally I like the
drums pacing but some fills would benefit along with a
slight change up for the chorus. This might draw more
attention to the chorus.

Very, very cool voice!

Well the man said "Very, very cool voice!"
I love when someone says "Very, very cool voice!"
It's not often one heres that, "Very, very cool voice!".
Oh, did I mention that he said something about my having a "Very, very cool
voice!"

Thanks, the voice is the most personal, and I'm sure glad You enjoy it and the
song. I will make a "Take 2" of this song. Hope You'll stick around
for it.
Best,

Thanks, man. Well, the drums are fingerpickin' but still sounds like a loop. I
think I have to do something about that. I've been checking Your stuff out. I
really like the metal, You are a cruel guitarist, man i wish I could play like
that. I'll be doing some humble feedback later on.
Thanks again,

Groovy vocals!....nice rhythm...and oh yea, the keys baby,
organ rocks!. The mix seems just a tad thin with the
drums needing depth (some bass compression). I like the
section where drums fall out..bass picks up then drums in
again...nice arrangement....oh man, I love that organ, did I
say that already? Keyboard junky ya know!

This is a cool tune. Me likes it Mikey! Yea, boppin around

Gee, thanks! I kind of like the keyboard myself. I tried a fatter leslie-type organ but that clashed with the guitar. I needed them to interact so they had to be rather similar. Thanks for the comment on my arrangements.
