you're the one that ran
when I looked for you
you're the one that closed
your eyes to my misuse

you're the one that never
spoke to me about the consequences
you're the one that knew but didn't do

you're the tide that comes
without the moon's declaration
you're the clouds that depart
when it's monsoon season

you're the breast that feeds
when the mouth is full
you're the lost retort
found as I climb up the stairs

and I hear you
but you
hear me not

I can't be guilty for this innocent drowning
I can't be blamed if she only had it coming
because how could I hurt something so deeply lodged inside of me
but now I only have you thrashing inside my bones

you're the searchlight
facing towards the land's direction
you're the broken traffic light
in an intersection

You like to play your games
while I'm silenced in my room
you Hold your hand Out
and Let mine slip aWay

Your love was always changing
you're the ocean hearted, storm minded
I guess like pulls like
what was in your heart now contains you

I can't be guilty for this innocent drowning
I can't be blamed if she only had it coming
The burden's not mine
to carry
the joke wasn't mine
to make
now she is absolved

You ask me why i'm late again
when I'm running home from school

I say left behind my lower half
can you help me find it again?

All these bruises on my back
form a map you can use to tell you
but would you believe me if I told you
I'll tell you everything
if you believed me when I told you

you tried to hurt me out of love
now you've drowned in your own love
The burden's not mine
to carry
the joke wasn't mine
to make
now you're absolved

I felt a hand reach down
as he had done to me before.
I did not move.
I felt him stop and take a deep breath
and he took me in.
Inch by inch, I had buried myself.

That chord at the 00:47 mark caught my ear and really made me pat attention to what you're doing here...Man this is one edgy "Pop" song.I almost didn't click on it cause I'm no huge fan of pop music in general...So glad I did give it a listen. This is much more than pop.,,Much Enjoyed right here.

i like your voice and harmonies. you take unique sounding melodies which are refreshing. You have a solid voice, but careful with taking deep gasp before every verse. This song is a bit too long, but otherwise would be radio-friendly.

Big effort
There's some nice juxtapositional word play going on in your verses .. and those incongruities astutely underscore the jarring theme of abuse. That's good writing!

Likewise, I think the extended score that comes in after the singing is finished, with its sprinkling of discordant sounds, also emphasizes the perturbing subject matter.

Perhaps the story-telling could be tightened up a little without sacrificing content, but overall you've done a impressive job on a big, serious effort.

Thanks for listening! I'm really glad you picked up on all of that. The musical and lyrical choices I made here were very deliberate. A lyrical line gives, and the next line takes it away. The song invites, and then drowns you in the water.

A lot
of pain here but music is a great way of being able to deal at least a little with it. Some interesting chord progressons and really good use of words. Thanks for sharing.

Impressive work on the beats and the edgy vocals conveying the uncomfortable message.
