I haven't been posting much lately, but a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to do something for my nine-year anniversary here at MJ, so this is it. It borrows a little bit here and there from other stuff I've done over the years - chord changes, the piano part, the guitar sound I've used over and over and over, etc. Think of it as an homage to the past nine years.

My vocals are a little iffy. I've been sick for the past month and have allergies that just won't go away, but I managed to get through it without too many coughing fits.

It's been a great run here at MJ for the past nine years. There have been ups and down, both here and in real life, but I've always just plowed through thanks, in no small part, to many of the folks I've gotten to know over the years.

Hopefully, I'll keep making music for many more years and , hopefully, MJ will still be here and all you guys will be to hear it.

Time moves
Like snowflakes falling
Falling down

Fade into the night
Like an anniversary

I can’t see the sounds
They pass in waves
From old to young

Reaching through the night
Suspended in my dreams

Like raindrops fall
And fade away

Wash away the night
Like an anniversary

I can’t feel the words
They pass right through me
Leave me cold

Reaching through a dream
Fly into the light

Echoes dance
Like shadows forming
On a wall

Growing in my mind
Like an anniversary

I can’t hear the world
As it spins below me
Through the void

Grasping at the stars
Fading from my dreams

groove and the wash of sound works really well.

Very downbeat vocals although they work very well with the ambiance of the song.

is the 'in' thing now Joe, Ha ha; I do it all the time. Voice sounds great anyway and the lyrics are excellent...... something dreamlike about the performance and the vocal against this backing...... enjoyed, regards M

Lovely, downtempo vibe, Joe. The lyrics are simple but very evocative. The sound just washes over you, as Dick said. Keep producing music and we will keep listening. Take care, Peter.

Capturing a mood/feeling...
You've done that so well with the laid-back accompaniment and the subdued nature of the performance overall. I think your vocal is just fine for these lyrics and the feeling of the song, but I wish it were a bit louder in the mix. (Actually, the whole mix seems a little "distant," but maybe that also works to the number's advantage considering the lyrical message.

Just a hint...
...of Eno meets Joy Division, kinda... Conveys a mood very well...Your voice suits that mood, I think...

Need subtle background use of the uber-distorted guitar sound, and then having the cleaner guitar for the solo bit...
