Description
I had an infectious tune worked out using DADGAD tuning, and wasn't sure what to do with it. Then I realised my beloved niece was coming to spend Christmas with us and it all fell into place. When I played it to Logan her face was absolutely priceless. I've tidied it up a bit, but kept the rough and ready production of the original.

Lyrics
Logan

The clouds in the sky are like Logan and I
See how they fly away
The fish in the sea are like Logan and me
See how they swim and play

Run, Logan, run
Cause I just cannot wait to see your face lighting up my day
Jump, Logan, jump
Cause I simply cannot wait to hear what you have to say

I beg your pardon, flowers in my garden
Are nowhere near as cute as you
The rose and the daisy would have to be crazy
To vie for my love for you

Logan, Logan how my heart is broken when you've gone afar
Logan, Logan make my love your token no matter where you are

Thanks, Llarion
I've learned a lot over the last few weeks, thanks to you and Daugrin, and a guy called Lewin on YouTube, who is terrific. I cleaned this up a bit, but not too much, so as not to lose the spontaneity of the original. Reggae on the way!

The fish in the sea
thank you very much for your time, sir. I'm finally getting the hang of the fretless, and have found ways of making it sound less rubbishy in the mix.

I like the rolling guitar lines. There is an English folk feel to the melody and the harmonies. Lots of energy in the vocal. The bass adds texture when it enters. A delight, Graham!

Thanks, Phil
I grew up listening to Fairport, Martin Carthy, Nic Jones and anyone else who showed up at Stafford folk clubs, so no wonder.

Hey, Les
I've been learning the studio stuff over the summer break, so everything I do from now on will be awe - inspiring. In my imagination, that is. Anyway, Logan is such a super kid she deserves a theme song. Thank you for your continued interest in my burblings.

Not surprised it lit up her face!
A light-hearted yet powerful expression of love will do that to a kid. Well done on putting this together, the guitar work is a simple yet sophisticated sound that cheers nicely. I like the way this piece moves along at a good pace but isn't frantic.

Thanks, Mr A. I put a video of this on YouTube, with Logan practising her Junkanoo moves, and they sync surprisingly well. It was clearly meant to be.

Nice guitar work here. I agree that the tune is catchy! Kind of a retro 60's sound to it. Thanks for sharing.

Logan says
it sounds like The Beatles, which is fantastic. My question is: how does a ten - year -old Bahamian kid know about the Beatles? Anyway, thanks for the kind remarks. I am a retro 60's kind of guy.

Reminds me a little
of XTC in their Mummer phase.

Lovely intricate guitar work caries the song along and the vocals complement it perfectly.

Nice light touch on the lyrics :-)

Cheers

Dick

I Love XTC
and would sell one of my livers for a new XTC album. It would be nice to go into a proper studio and record a tune or two, and really pay tribute to the music I admire. Meanwhile, there's MacJams, which keeps us all amused. Thanks for listening, Dick.

Liking the acoustic work a lot, Graham. A nice early 70's folk vibe. Your niece must have been rapt. I like the bass, too. Thanks for the post. Take care, Peter.

My niece is a cartoon character
and stood, mouth agape, like something you see on Saturday mornings on Must - See TV. That alone made it all worthwhile. The attention of MJers is icing on the cake.
