A reggae pop kind of tune...
We put this together pretty quickly. Our music making session in Donnies basement started with me playing some reggae sounding chords and then the guys just followed. Donnie wrote some words ... recorded it live off the floor with vocals all at the same time. I added some guitar noodle and lead overdub ... mixed it in GB. We put my fender amp in another room with the door open and Robs amp in a closet to try and lessen the bleed. It helped a bit. Lots of bleed on the vocal mic but all mixed together it didn't sound too bad. I used a mid side compression in the mix so it squeezed away the live sound and some verb and gave it a little more of a produced sound. Thanks for listening ... We are all learning how to record a band and it's always a challenge .... ah ... to be musically challenged...

Stan Gadziola - Guitar, vocals, mix
Donnie MacNeil - Drums, vocals
Rob George - Bass, vocals

man i envy you being to play with an actual full band. but that's ok, i can feel it vicariously thru the Groovehounds. great sound too--full of life and space, and not squashed to death. to me, it sounds like it was pretty fun to put together.

Certainly more of a studio feel than the one-take-all-in-one-room earlier songs from Groovehounds - not better or worse, just different. I like it a lot - maybe because the overdubbed lead has more to sit on with the rhythm guitar behind it? The vocal has energy and warmth. Drums and bass really solid and supportive. Great work, Stan. Are we getting near a CD release?

dig it
perfect blend of reggae and blue eye soul.

separation seems pretty good. i'm not noticing any bleed, so i'ld say mission accomplished!

The good time feel just jumps out of my speakers, Stan. As Sam says, "full of life and space". Learning pretty quick by the sounds of things :-) An MJ treat. Thanks to all. Regards, Peter.

You guys absolutely ROCK in these live/improv things of yours! Your vox are so good (and the fact that you're whipping 'em out with lyrics on the spot just blows me away). Guitars are amazing, and the general sound you have on these cuts (I'm including the last one here) is so cool I think you should keep chugging along and record as many of these as possible.

A Fan.
