Complacent Minerals (test mix)

This song is one of several that I have been working on since January 2013.

This is a test mix because I can't really decide on what else to add to it yet, but I wanted to post it so folks could see what I've been up to this year.

I'm trying to pay more attention to detail in the mix as well as the music.

I suppose I should point out that this is a "full spectrum" recording, I usually don't apply the final EQ mastering until I take the song to "gold master".

The story behind this song:

One of my closest friends and supporter of my original music, Alan Brown passed away 2 days after Christmas 2012. I became quite depressed and stopped working on any music at all.

Then one day his wife showed up at my house and gave me his entire audio system which included 2 huge Klipsch speakers and several other gadgets as she said he would have wanted me to have them since they both have been huge supporters of my music and we had been so close for the last 35 years.

Inspired by the gift and the memory of my close friend I jumped back into my backlog of tunes and came up with this. We both collected florescent minerals, crystals and geodes hence the name of the tune.

Please enjoy!

Florescent work ! It's really comforting to have such a supporting friend who watches over you even in the afterworld ! :)

Sometimes I glow in the dark... LOL
Narad, Thanks.

I miss my friend, but I would not honor his memory if I gave up the music. The gift from his wife of all his audio gear was the reality slap I needed.

Alan is always there, prodding me onward!

A fitting tribute to your friend Alan. I'm sorry for your loss. Glad to hear you've gotten back in the groove of music. It's a life saver and a life maker at the same time.

Thank you
Thanks for the kind words, I plan to complete this song soon.

I think I'm going to add some sax and perhaps some lead guitar to it. If anyone can think of something that will fit this tune, I am open to collaborations.

Alan was a good man and a good friend. While I miss his presence in my life, his memory and spirit still guides and supports me.
