Chipping Away (An Ambiental Rapture Mix)

Well this mix is made up of sounds generated by a new, free, Cakewalk synth called Rapture. It's free with Computer Music Special 200th Issue edition. It has some half decent sounds, from the few I've played with today.
This mix has the idea of chipping/plugging away at something, in a steady fashion, until it is complete. Sort of like what I should have been doing before now to complete my MSc.. I didn't finish what I'd started in between 2003 and 2007 but now I will have another chance this year, now I've remembered the bloody thing.

The mix is also partly my ideas-in-music to the SciFi novel Synners, which I'm reading at the moment, by Pat Cadigan. I love the brain/computer (Biological Input/Output System (BIOS)) of it.

Five minutes. A longer version is in the works if anyone want a copy. Send me a note if you do. I'll send it to you ASAP.

Yes Cakewalk synths. You should try to get the Dimension Pro too. I've been using both these synths now for a few years; I like them a lot. Nice to see they've made Rapture available as a free offering. Sadly, they aren't 64 bit, so they won't work with the latest version of Logic, which has no bridging unit. I doubt that they will ever be upgraded.

The music is much gentler than many of your usual offerings. I like the sweeping wind sound and the barely audible 'electric circuit' effect underlying the pads. A soother, not a mover! Very nice use of your new synth Paul.

Hi Dave...
I've downloaded all the free presets that I can and I'm going through them and using them in mock-ups of my soundscapes to see what/if anything fits. I don't though think that I'll use this synth in many of my mixes. I don't 'feel it' enough and they Zebra 2 as most of my attention. I'm also toying whether to buy the Dark Zebra to play with.

Time will tell.

Take care.

Hi Harald.....
I like the picture that your imagination paints as I listen to the mix with your ideas. A great trip..

Take care.

Chipping Away
The throbbing nature of this certainly gives it a spacey vibe and it massages the brain :-) I seemed to want a bit more low end growl along the way? Thanks for the post. Regards, Peter.
