Description
Franciscus Henri in collaboration with Philip18 and Sigmund.
This one began as an experiment. Phil and I set up two microphones
The first was into a sound system with two fold back speakers about 2 meters behind me. The second was directly next to the first and we recorded my vocal, guitar and harmonica in one take. We were going for a ‘live sound’ You be the judge.
Phil was inspired to send the track to Sigmund who added drums, bass and some brilliant guitar. What started as a “funny “ line …”The devils in the lyrics…”
Has turned into a song I’m more than happy to share.

Lyrics
There’s More To Life (A Man in Black)
Words nd Music Franciscus Henri (Albert Music)
A man in black played his guitar there was blood on every string
A dead man hanging from a tree Said “I’ve nothing left to sing”
His eyes were blind. His voice was mute but I could hear his song
There’s more to life than singing and you, singing along.
I saw a man stand by the road with out a place to go
And if his suitcase were empty you would never know
In his hand he had a gun to protect him from his friend
There’s more to life than good intentions
When a friendship ends
I have seen the hungry give succour to the rich
I have seen a thirsty man drowning in a ditch
He cried out for a reason but never heard a sound
There more to life than answers when the questions can’t be found
A man in the electric chair said I’m afraid I’m lost
Someone mentioned Jesus and that he died upon a cross
There’s no love in executions or driving nails through hands
There’s more to life than being born
and waiting till it ends
I have walked along the sand by the ocean tide
I have seen a ship sink I have seen a sailor die
I admit that I thought I’m glad I’m not the one
There’s more to life than sympathy and what I might have done
I have heard the people cry One day we will be free
There is a price for freedom and its paid by you and me
Your guilty till you’re innocent there’s a lock on every cell
There’s more to life than freedom
and the Liberty bell
The devil is in the Lyrics and the detail in the song
If the song is short and narrow than the destinations wrong
Nothing is as simple as a song makes out to be
There is more to life than loving you and you loving me.

A comedy song?
However this started it's finished on another level.
Has the feel of a song that's been with us for decades and that's not easy to achieve.
Lovely guitar work and thoughtful lyrics.
Cheers
