The Haunting

I don't know, I was half asleep when I wrote this...

I bought Dream Voices from Camel Audio and this came out. All the instrument sounds are from Dream Voices except the piano.

Apologies to anyone who got the first two versions; the first one was cut off at the end by a bug in GarageBand, so I had to find a workaround. It really wasn't right to hear this cut off before the echoes fade away at the end.

Then I uploaded the version before it was properly finished, my mistake not the software's fault that time.

The haunting
Atmospheric music. The different elements are well integrated. I enjoyed listening!

It sort of came out without a lot of effort, though there was a lot of tweaking to get it to sound the way I wanted. Glad you took in the atmosphere, that's mostly what this piece is about.

Are you sure..
...it's done?! One of the things I dislike about this place is that you can't update a song. Anyway.

I listened to v2 yesterday. I can't remember leaving a comment, so I'm going to assume I didn't. I love the Alchemy [I eventually bought the full blown version; worth it btw when you have enough pennies] and I've been using the Dream Voices [and others] sound pack for a couple of years. I really like this synth and the samples you can get for it are excellent, though they can be troublesome to eq in a mix I think!

Maybe you'd like to have a listen to what I've done? Try 'Breathless' or 'A Fait Accompli' on my page. My latest, 'Tekkin' a Waalk', made almost completely with the Alchemy, also has one instance of Dream Voices. I used it a lot in my cover of Debussy's Sunken Cathedral too. Sorry for the shameless self promotion! I thought you may be interested in hearing how someone else has used this lovely synth.

You've put it to great use in this tune anyway. Delicate, atmospheric with a hint of the ominous. Nice job indeed. I've taken a download, thank you for making it available.

Thank you!
I wonder if you would like to see your music used on a soundtrack; if so, I would join the Blender artists' forums and post just once or twice with links to your artist's page on MacJams. I'm sure some of the Blender animators would be interested in the music you produce. Thanks for visiting this and leaving a comment. You're most welcome to that download, I love seeing the download counter updating.

Thanks for the heads up! Yes I may try that. I'll see if I can find the forum. I've never heard of it to be truthful.

There are a lot of Blender forums I realised after posting that.
The best one to go to is here: http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/

Blender is the 3D software I use for my work. It can do 3d modelling, animation and SFX work and even has a basic video editor built in. I'd recommend doing some reading only for a few visits before you check out if anyone's interested in your music. Blender is Free Open Source Software, available from http://www.blender.org/

The Haunting
Atmospheric piece. The vocal synths are quite ethereal. Nice space in the mix, too. I only really got a hint of "ominous" in the post. Must have been friendly ghosts :-) Thanks, Peter.

Baroque Mystery...
I really like the opening, breathless, mysterious voices and was expecting an eerie sound track for perhaps a sci-fi film. But you seem to devolve into quasi-counterpoint that, to me, is inconsistent with many of the ethereal sounds you have going on here. The result is a very interesting track with lots of cool elements, but perhaps one that doesn't complete "hang together" as a cohesive composition.

I like the lone solo piano amidst all of the air/spirits/ethereal goings on. It gives a place for the listener to be grounded but at the same time shows how surrounded and small they are. Excellent mood setting.

Nice job on the Alchemy presets. It is a great synth.

Lovely. You made great use of the loops. It is very pleasant. It's like listening to little children playing in a music room. I even think I hear little hands clapping. Love it. Thanks.
