I wanted to explore burying the vox deep into a big guitar mix, guess I've been listening to a lot of Mogwai and My Bloody Valentine. The intention was to work on texture as much as melody. Lyrically it kinda covers the notion of being there for people.
My Les Paul does most of the honours here, along with Logic Pro X's terrific Drummer.

Say what?
I like the music, the tone, the guitars, the beat, the textures, the overall big sound.

But what I don't understand is why bury the vocals so deep in the mix that you cannot comprehend a word that is being sung? Are the words that meaningless? If the goal is to be enigmatic, at least a word or a phrase should bubble up now and then far enough to be interpreted. As another instrument he buried vocals don't seem to contribute anything musically to the mix other than a slight droning effect in certain places.

But that's just me when it comes to lyrics : )

I too hear the U2 vibe Sammy picked up on. Digging the big sound. I'd bring the vocal up just a tad. That might still achieve the effect you were looking for without depriving the listener of taking in the lyrics (or post the lyrics). Never the less..........she does rock!!

Everything All the Time
Truth in jamming. The root bound bass keeps perfect time. What a great formula. Watch that first step. REM is in the details I think.

I'm hearing that MBV vibe (along with some JAMC & P-furs perhaps?)
I like the kinda busy drums along with wall of guitar sound.
It gets really oceanic towards the end - fantastic!
speaking of MBV, I'm so glad to have survived long enough to hear their new album (my favourite of them all)

I grew up in the 70's and 80's in the south of the UK in an Irish family. I had always loved music but was never given an opportunity to explore making it for myself. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar and began strumming in earnest. To d... [see more]
