This is one from the vault....
I wrote this after my mom died in 1997
It was recorded in the SquareWave studios in Groningen in may 2000 for our album "No medication".
This one was done in one take
Unfortunately the original tapes are lost so I only have this mix.
Ed "Edjah" Korma - drums
Erwin "goodie2shoes" Blokzijl - bass
The late Frans van der Wal (picture) - leadguitar
Alexandra Das - keys
KC - guitar, vocals
Wim Trossel - engineer
Produced by KC, Wim Trossel and Ed Korma
Bert Duitscher - mental and other support
We hope you like it

I'd give a year of my life just to be with you
Seeing your face for one second would do
This place is so cold since you've been gone
I have no place that I can call home

Refr: You know it took quite a while
But I'm back on my track
Now I know it's time that I realize
Well, there ain't no turning back
No turning back!

No need to tell that times were hard
Who was to mend my broken heart
They say that you learn and they say that you grow
I think that Bull**** , but I just don't know

You know this feeling of loss, it won't go away
You're under my skin each and every day
The valley's been deep and the mountain so high
I can see a ray of light in the sky

No turning back
This song succinctly captures that moment when grieving gives way and it is replaced by a firm resolve to move on in life. Nice work by the band.

Great post!

Everything from songwriting, vocals and performance is absolutely solid here. I'm particularly impressed with the timing of all the instruments, you played very well together! There are so many ways to deal with grief and loss, this must have been more cathartic and fruitful than most. The interlude around 1:50 is perfect.

Liking the vintage rock feel to this, Cees. Fine response to a difficult time. The band sounds tight. Good one. Regards, Peter.

Back On My Track
Tight band, interesting arrangement, (I like the break in the middle), good mix, emotive vocal. It all works, KC!
