It's been a while since I posted under gadzooks but I took a Hound break and wrote this on the weekend and just finished it today. Two acoustic tracks with my godin ... and a bunch of other stuffI guess I was inspired by an old photo of myself with my younger brother and big tall cousin..... yeah, I'm the guy with the glasses ... the nerd with the bike.

Interesting reflections in the lyrics. Old photos always give food for thought. I like the arrangement - the drums and bass sit well, interesting additions from the keys. Great sound from the guitars. Captivating song, Stan!

Old pictures
Ha-ha .. that kid with the glasses in that old photograph .. that could've been me : )

As the simple joys of childhood disappear into the complexities of maturity it's only natural we look back on those golden days with a tinge of sadness .. especially when they are abruptly recalled to mind by old photographs. What stands out here is your musical ability to evoke that past via rumination .. to capture the sense of time past and present .. and to consider its implications.

I was just looking at some old pictures of me from 30-some years ago and I didn't know whether I should be laughing or crying at how much I've changed. Depending on one's mood - it could go either way : )

I love your singing here .. especially how you extend a syllable by raising it higher.

Your enunciation is clear; still, I do wish you would've posted the lyrics.

Black eyes and cold as ice
Ya got the red dirt road vibe in spades. Great jobs, I thought ya were gonna break down there at one point. Raw and real.

Real music forged from real experiences. Can't beat it. You have expertly balanced a singer/songwriter ballad with a creative, sympathetic arrangement. The photograph might be fading but the back story and a captured moment of time still glow brightly. Great to hear your solo work again, too. Thanks, Stan. Peter

Sepia tone...
Great song and a wonderful production. The raw emotion of this song really comes through the vocals. I hope you will post the lyrics.

classic US rock tune. i loved the frank weather report - you don't normally hear that kind of language on macjams :)

dude your vocals are so assured - you sound like a seasoned pro.

the entire is a perfectly balanced and accomplished track. your vocals again - seriously good delivery, especially with the harmonies.

What an amazing melody! A touch of Floyd meets Petty with a sprinkling of Neil Young. Love it. This should be on the bloody radio! You my friend are a great melodist!
