once upon a time
in a world of make believe
lived a little girl
so young and so naive

in her world there were no tears
no broken hearts to mend
she believed that fairy tales
all had a happy end

then one day her prince arrived
got down on one knee
professing all his love for her
will you marry me

walking down the aisle she broke
thanked the lord above
making all her dreams come true
and finding her true love

as the years passed by
and children came along
the man he changed
and things started to go wrong

she didn't understand
why he left her all alone
why didn't he call her
on the nights he wasn't home

the smiles disappeared
and laughter finally died
she could have filled an ocean
with the many tears she cried

suddenly her world had changed
her life was torn apart
this handsome prince she married
had finally broken her heart

even though the pain at times
was more than she could bare
she clung unto the hope that this
wasn't love...just an affair

her life was shattered torn apart
how could she go on
when everything she'd ever know
and ever loved was gone

True to vision...
The feel is indeed 80s, but perhaps not the lyric, which could have appeared much earlier perhaps... anyway much enjoyed. All the elements work together in the genre specific template. Great job on the production, even the reverb on the guitar is period perfect!

Always like the way your vocals sound and sit in the classic sound beds that you put together, Mark. Quality ballad style lyrics from raina. Drums sound great, too. Fine work all round. South Dakota rocks (the '80's) :-) Thanks.

You always do a great job with the retro sound, but keeping it unique as well. This is no exception. To me, this seemed like it could have come straight off The Moody Blues' The Other Side of Life, which I thought was a great album. The synth voices feel right on and the vocals have such a nice smoothness. Love the lyric as well. Very poignant. Altogether nicely done!

80s indeed
I missed 80s music almost completely, but this certainly tugs a few nolstalgic heartstrings. You do this very well - enjoyed.
