I think the chord progression at the 48 second mark is familiar, but maybe not enough to be "borrowed." (Remember the quote "good musicians borrow, great musicians steal).

Very nice piece. Just a hint of melancholy. I enjoyed it.

Was drawn in by the name "Yacona." I live not far from the Yacona River. Don't see the name too much outside our little patch of North Mississippi.

Thanks for sharing.

Yacona
It's a long boring story, but this song is about the Yacona River. Thanks for the listen and comment.

If you
love and listen to lots of music, you're bound to be influenced and retain snippets of melodies in your subconscious. I love this romantic piece that you play so very well and I do recognise those few bars you mention, but they meander beautifully into something you yourself composed. I think we all do that from time to time......can't be helped. I think it would sound great as a movie theme, regards M

Gentle Number
You really warm it up with the soft string bed and that gives a really beautiful lift right when they come in. Yes. A melancholic number, but it is, nevertheless, very pretty and calming. The "stolen" phrases are mostly sequences that you will find in hundreds of other classically-or pop-inspired pieces, so you needn't worry about it at all. It works just fine. (The glissando seems really out of place in this simple song.) I thoroughly enjoyed hearing your composition and your performance of it. Many thanks.
