Music Memos Blues (instrumental)

Get Flash to see this player.

This is a quick song sketch I made last night on my iPad (via the pinhole mic) using the new free and very cool Music Memos app to record the ukulele and harmonica tracks. Memos then automatically adds a bass (upright or electric) and drum track (vintage or modern) both of which can be modified. The sketch can then be loaded into GarageBand where I did some tweaking, mainly adding some reverb and panning. Check out the Music Memos forum post, if you haven't already. Good one Apple!

Music Memos
Interesting piece, Jack. You'd think Apple would put this facility into GB (and Logic?) without having to do the import thing. Seems a good way of sketching ideas, though! Thanks for posting this.

Philip, I think it will get more use as a stand alone app. Easy to quickly open and record. And once you have something (maybe after a number of takes) it's just a click of a button to seamlessly import it into the GarageBand app.

Thanks for your thoughts. I look forward to exploring MM's capabilities.

Happily on the road again...
Thanks, Iyzak! Very gracious comment. I've only used the app a few times. With this little sketch being the most extensive use so far. I would imagine as this app is updated it will get more powerful and versatile. We'll see... I'm waiting for Tim Cook to call to buy my "commercial!" :)

memo to Jack...
... "you should use this app now that you have it 'cause you got less time these days to make a full blown song and this is a nice way to get yourself recording some or your sketch backlog..."

Thanks, Vic. As I wrote above, I have a notion Apple will pump this little app up to do more in future updates. And maybe I'll be posting semi-finished songs!
