Description
Inspired by a failed collaboration. It turned out surprisingly well. Vocals and other stuff still need work, but the main thing is there.

Lyrics
What kind of world do we live in?
What kind of planet do we live on?

You better do this
You better do that
You slave like a dog for some cat in a hat

You gotta move here
You gotta go there
You die like a fish with a glassy stare

Chorus I’ve got my feet upon the ground
But my head’s in the clouds
Eye on the moon

Another journey
and once again I'm never sure where it's going!

Nice work with the guitars. A bit Hendrix and riff heavy.

Never a dull moment!

Cheers

Dick

Workin' on my Hendrix
The original collab was a synth - heavy thing and I did some vocals. So I kept the vocals and went in the opposite direction. You get an Imaginary Badge for being first, Dick!

Eyes on the Moon
Eclectic blend, Graham. Cerebral. Harmonies and the guitar work are highlights. The transitions work well. Can I have an imaginary elephant stamp for being second? Please, sir? :-)

Consider yourself stamped.
I really enjoy coming up with variations and links. It's like the best kind of jigsaw puzzle. Thanks for listening, Peter.

Love the way this moves...huge prog rock fan right here. You got some serious guitar tones throughout the entire piece. So much fun and much appreciated!! thanks for sharing.

Zoom Box fun
Amazing what you can get with little effort from a cheap effects box. I have my eyes on a GP - 10 next. Thanks for your time, Mr G.

Just heavy enough
I can see how this piece might have started out “synth-heavy,” but this interpretation is just heavy enough.   Delightful juxtaposition of notions.

Arrangements can be a pain sometimes, but it's worth trying for a satisfying narrative.

Inspired
Wonderfully innovative! Those guitar sounds are so distinctive!

There's nothing like being inspired by failure. (Actually, I don't know what that means .. it just sounded good when it popped into my head.)

I think it could use a couple more "You better/You gotta" couplets .. instead of just repeating them .. which would better reflect the variety of the musicianship. (Maybe that's what you refer to as "other stuff"?) The two here are great.

Feet on the ground, head in the clouds, eye on the moon - that's superlative.

Thank you, Warren
I like that line too. One day, this will have proper McNair drums. When I fix the wonky vocals I'll see about the betters and gottas and possibly something else you can die like. (Probably not a whelk.)

Don't think
I heard this final version (or did I)? One of your catchiest choruses to date.

Not sure, Sam
There are some higher harmonies that are flat and need fixing, and of course it needs real live McNair goodness before it's done. But, Saul Goodman. Thanks as ever.

Wow!
At 1:00 this explodes. Very cool. I really like the way you have recorded the vocals. Very unusual-sounding. Lots of exciting elements in the arrangement, too. (e.g. that great guitar lead around 2:38 or so). The mix sounds a little dry to my ears. Maybe a bit more distance/reverb overall?

I'll experiment with reverb when I redo the vocals. I always appreciate your comments, thanks.
